Totally lost track of time getting to a decent stopping point. Lots to cover this week so let's get to it.
First up here's the video I promised covering all of the Tatsumaki edit so far before calling it for the month. Check it out with the password: Tatsuprog.
I was sorta hoping I could have gotten atleast one more segment done in time, but then it turned out in that last portion I managed to color that they had to go and change the shading on Tatsumaki from the shadow cast by the kaiju guy's fireball, and if you had to go back and check that that was really in there too it would make me feel better for missing it. If you spot anything else I missed feel free to let me know. Since the last two portions shouldn't take a full month's time to color on their own I'll have time to go back and fix any minor details.

In between working on that one, I've continued figuring out the animation I'm doing for Corivas. First minor update is there were some slight adjustments to the character design from last week, mostly in the final hair design.

With that done I started figuring out the storyboards for the animation. Since it's not an edit I'm gonna have to be figuring out all the posing and timing myself, and I wanted to really try for some fairly elaborate stuff compared to what I'm normally used to doing.

Probably my biggest time practicing with this kind of movement was when I did the fox Lucy edit, and I learned from that one that to make motion look more dynamic there has to be a higher percentage of keyframes to in-betweens, so I kept that in mind when making the animatic. It's still pretty rough since most of my time was going towards Tatsumaki, but I hope the I still got across the basic idea, and I'm gonna start doing cleanup making the storyboards into proper keyframes next.

Lastly I wanted to talk more on the voting process sort of. I don't really know if I'll have reached the stretch goal I set by the time the voting starts up again, but in case I do, I'm wondering now if that plan should also be adjusted along with the whole new voting process. Basically my plan when that stretch goal was reached was that I'd be working on the one I pick as a second winner from the monthly suggestions in place of these secondary projects I've been doing.
What I'm wondering though is should that maybe be handled some other way. Like, would you all prefer if I kept the choosing of ideas entirely vote based, or if my choosing the idea myself isn't the issue, then maybe instead of choosing the second idea and it possibly taking away time that could be spent working on the voted idea, maybe I should alternate each month between holding a vote to decide that month's project and then next month one be choosing from idea suggestions. If this week's post wasn't gonna be a video type post, I might have made a poll for that, but it's probably gonna take more than a week to decide on that.
