Monster Girl Farmer 0.19 released!
Added 2021-09-12 07:21:24 +0000 UTCHi all! I'm really tired. It's a long-standing tradition for developers to suck at estimates, and I'm a traditional developer. So, I'm 10 minutes late from the deadline I made yesterday. See, I thought I had like four hours left to release this, but I spent like eight editing the latest scene. I think it's really good. It's certainly the most wholesome scene in the game right now, that's my opinion at least.

I'll be promoting this a little more tomorrow.

I will e-mail you the save now. It should bring you back to where you were. Thanks for your patience!

Oh well. I am using my mobile, so this could be the issue. I was at the point where he met the mushroom girl.

2021-09-26 23:20:52 +0000 UTCI'm sorry that's happened! What device are you playing on? Are you playing in the incognito mode? Do you recall where you were in the game when this happened? I may be able to create a save for you, so you don't have to start from scratch. Also, if you use the cheats, it should be pretty easy to get back to where you were (that's how I'd go about making a save for you). Here is some more context: my games aren't built completely by scratch, I use a game engine called twine. It's responsible for storing save data, but to do so, it needs to use the browser's local storage and/or cookies. If those get wiped, so does the save data. Also, if the domain name (e.g., monstergirlfarmer.com) changes, the engine can't access the old cookies, so you wouldn't be able to access the saved data on the new domain. It used to be that only desktop browsers could export the saves to a file. But I actually requested that this feature is enabled on mobile browsers, too, and it was implemented because of my request! I know it doesn't help now, but in the future, you can periodically export your save to a file to prevent starting from scratch again. Here's a tutorial on how: https://monstergirlfarmer.com/?passageName=Input%20export%20tutorial (note, that button at the bottom won't work, but there's no need to click it anyway) I've also tried to put in some protections into the game itself: every time you sleep or end an encounter, the game autosaves. Of course, this isn't going to help you if all the save data is wiped :( What I plan to do someday is turn the game into an actual android app. That way, *I'll* have control of when local storage and cookies are cleared. The developers of Twine tell me that mobile browsers seem to randomly clear the local storage/cookies. Of course, that doesn't help if you're using an iPhone. I don't think there can be an iPhone solution besides exporting your save. Again, I'm sorry this happened to you and I'm sorry if it's happened to anyone else. I'm always on the lookout for new ways to prevent this, but I think I'm doing everything I can within the limits of my engine. What do you think about a pop up while you're playing that says something like, "You've been playing for a while. It's always a good idea to backup your saves. Yadda yada yada. You can turn these tips off in the settings."?

2021-09-26 21:13:34 +0000 UTCIs there a way to save as you go? I saved some pages under the save button (thinking that was the safest) then lost EVERYTHING! Now I have to start over again! I am really frustrated.
