Added 2019-07-11 03:18:27 +0000 UTCHi all! This week, I'm excited to announce that Nugg has started sketching the game's first "sex" scene. I put that in quotes because I'm not sure if a BJ counts as sex to everyone (it does to me).
If you get to know Mia well enough, she'll give you a BJ in an alley, because, you know, she's classy like that.
My BG artist is still working on two new backgrounds, but she's had a series of events that have interfered with her progress.
I spent a lot of time this week thinking about game mechanics. For example, I know I want each character to progress from a stranger to living with you on the farm, to transforming into monster girl form. I also know I want the sex scenes to be optional, because some players aren't attracted to certain characters. But, how do you progress to sex scenes? How do you write the quests in a way where it makes sense regardless of whether a character has moved in with you or not? Same question, but what if they've already transformed, etc.?
I try my best to document my thoughts on the discord, if anyone wants to see them (or contribute to the conversation).
Anyway, there I go rambling again. Here's the devlog:
- Use new facial expressions for Olivia's dialogue
- Use new facial expressions for Eva's field dialogue
- Use new facial expressions for Mia's dialogue - Nugg gave all the characters 5 expressions: Sad, Upset, Idle, Angry, and Aroused. I now use all these in the conversations that already exist.
- You can ask about Mia in the bar instead of at the general store, if you want. - Because of a joke in the BJ scene, it made sense to have Mia's alley exist between the general store and the bar.
- The map should have a close button. - You could always close the map by clicking off it or pressing escape, but now it has an actual close button, too.
- Add a configure icon
- When you click the configure icon, a panel pops up that gives you the option to quit - Almost everyone who's tried my game has brought this up: There's no way to quit the game. So, I added a configuration menu where you can quit.
- Asking the shopkeep about Mia in the alley should cost energy.
- You should not be able to click on buttons that cost energy if you don't have enough energy
- It should be possible for dialogue options to be visible, but unclickable - I needed this for the next feature
- You should not be able to click on dialogue choices that cost energy if you don't have enough energy.
- Add Mia's "Thoughts on Blowjobs" to the game - This is a conversation about blow jobs, but not the actual blowjob scene. The actual blowjob scene is written, but it's not in the game, yet.
- All nodes should keep track of the day you've last viewed them, that way I can make some nodes only appear the day after other nodes have been seen. - What I'm doing for now (this will almost certainly change), is give you a new Mia dialogue conversation each day you visit her.
- Add facial expressions to Mia's "Thoughts on blowjobs"
So what's planned next week? Before I answer that, I gotta explain Mia's dialogue. You talk to her about humans, then blowjobs, then there's a blowjob scene. Going from a conversation about humans to a conversation about blowjobs is pretty dang abrupt. That's why I'm writing a scene that can work as a transition between those two topics.
I also hope to have some new background(s) and some nice lewd pictures from Nugg.
