Progress Update: First few Survival-Compatible Textures (proof-of-concept)
Added 2020-08-31 02:43:14 +0000 UTC
Hey!
First, you really need to check out the "Community-Screenshots" on the website! < no longer available >
These screenshots deserve to be seen! It's awesome that now more people understand what my content is meant to be used for.
Most of the screens I included are very recent ones (from the R17 work-in-progress packs). Definitely worth checking out for some inspiration!

Progress Update:
I tested a few new things for R17: diagonal Walls + diagonal Glass and other weird stuff.
But as mentioned in the last posts, R17 development is mostly paused for now. I'd like to create a few textures first that actually suit "survival/vanilla gameplay".
New "Survival Compatible" Textures:
I took a ton of photos/scans this summer. When putting them into Minecraft, it's often disappointing to see how few of them actually look good. But I managed to create a few proper wood textures:
Oak + Dark Oak Logs, Oak + Dark Oak Planks, Slabs, Stairs, Fences (with fixed UV maps), etc....
The Log Texture uses 3 ctm textures (ctm)
The Planks use one large 2x3 texture (6 ctm repeat tiles)
What's so different about these Textures?
They are just images, almost without any reflections or "3D effects" (Normal maps).
This means they look almost the same on all shaders. Even without shaders they look "ok".
My previous content cannot be used without PTGI (+ correct settings). But in my honest opinion, playing normal Minecraft Survival-Mode with PTGI is totally not worth it. Other older shaders like Seus Renewed not only look a lot better in most cases, they also perform great!
That's the idea - A simple to install pack - that looks as expected. This progress update is a proof-of-concept. Hope you get my point.

I also experimented with different flower-models. Flowers might be one of the hardest things to make look "realistic". I'd like to go for small flower bushes instead of just one single weird-looking flower. (flowers are not included in the downloads yet, just a test)

My goal for the Survival-Compatible Pack is to first create the most important/most commonly seen blocks in vanilla gameplay.
Will there be public versions?
Sure, 256x will be public. 512x will be the high-end version for Patreon Supporters.
Once I have a few more blocks done and it's actually usable - I will release a public version.
A reminder: On my Patreon page I have "charge up-front" disabled. This means: If you are not satisfied with the content I post in a month, you can always cancel and you don't get charged for that month. (Same with Sonic Ether's page)
What about the name of the pack?
I don't know. That's the hardest part. I think I'll just use "ATPM" which stands for:
"Actually Took Photos Myself".
What about Mob/Animal Textures or other special blocks/textures?
Hell no.
Will these Textures be available in higher resolutions? (1024x / 2048x)
Yes, if certain textures are worth having in higher resolution, it will be included in the "R-Series" Packs. (for Screenshots/Cinematics etc) There is no point in having anything higher than 256x or 512x for any normal gameplay.
Why only 256x/512x?
Obviously because of performance reasons. Personally I would never play normal "minecraft gameplay" with anything above 256x.
256x is the sweet-spot. 512x is for special cases, the difference is only really noticeable if you look at one individual block.
(I'll probably rework the old oak leaves soon, here is just a recolored darker version)

2020-09-30 08:59:41 +0000 UTCFirst off thank you very much for all of your hard work on this. I can't play minecraft without your textures as they are simply amazing. That being said, there is 1 thing that drives me batty that I was wondering if you might be willing to address. The Oak leaves... While the leaves you have on those trees are well rendered leaves they are shaped more like birch or honeysuckle leaves and don't remotely look like Oak leaves lol. As someone with a yard full of oak trees this somehow triggers me to no end. Every time I roll up on an oak in game I give the leaves the stink eye lol.
