For the awesome water update of Seus ptgi, I wanted to create stuff that goes well with water. Also, some of you recommended that I should use the "ctm overlay" feature.
That's why the "main - block" of this update is the sand, obviously. Took quite some time, especially because I'm very new to Minecraft Texturing, I'm still learning.
All changes:
- Added Sand + Red Sand ( about 100 texture files for all overlay situations!)
- Added Terracotta and Light Gray Terracotta (I don't make all variants yet, since that's a waste of precious RAM, performance, loading times, etc.
- Added Chiseled Quartz
- Reworked Cobblestone with actual stones I collected and normal-scanned
- Added Light Gray Glass Pane (it uses a rough normal map - this is supposed to be "blurred" glas panes - some of you wanted me to make this. Looks pretty cool.
- Adjusted all texture maps for the iron armor (Seus ptgi E8 update messed with the reflections)
Important:
- Set Connected Textures to Fancy in your Video Settings --> Quality Options!
- Enable Alternate Blocks in the Video Settings --> Details Options!
How I created the sand textures:
I sculpted the pattern in a bowl of fine dirt (with my fingers, haha), and then I Normal-Scanned it, edited in Photoshop/Blender and made 2 main pattern textures, which get randomised by the blockstate file. (Minimizes pattern visibility)
The overlays onto other blocks are using the optifine ctm overlay method.
The sand (+red_sand) textures consist of over 100 indivual texture files (Diffuse/_n/_s)
This is also noticeable when comparing the file size of R7 and R8: 48 vs 132 (MB)
In the past 2 weeks I learned some techniques on how to get proper normal maps from real life objects/materials (no auto generated normal maps from materialize/CrazyBump, no photoscanning)
Next update: I think I have some great ideas for some shiny blocks, not sure if they turn out well. (Gold, Iron, maybe diamond) But I'll go with whatever I really want to work on. I'd like to create more blocks that are quite complex and time consuming (like the sand).
I really need to remind myself to make every block something special.
Next update in about 2 weeks.
Hope you like it!

Hello, a question, It looks bad plants in minecraft, how can I fix it?
2020-02-13 02:23:55 +0000 UTCI've had 20Gb allocated, It seems to be working better with R9 now though and extracting it helped.

2019-08-12 15:26:24 +0000 UTCHave you allocated more Ram to minecraft? For any high resolution textures with PBR you need quite a lot of Ram. I suggest ~6GB of RAM currently. (Standard is 1GB)

2019-07-30 16:54:13 +0000 UTCNo, just too many useless blocks where it's not worth to spend time on. There are already other great packs out there, just mix them.

2019-07-30 15:23:19 +0000 UTCI defined only the most important blocks. You can add more block in the sand.properties file in the folder: assets/minecraft/optifine/ctm/sand just add whatever ID to the list.
