Informative post about incoming Patreon payment changes.

But are gonna tax Patreons to make up for it, and then some. If I read people's post correctly, it goes like this. With the current system, for every dollar I receive, Patreon gets around 20 cents. Which is pretty reasonable if you ask me. With the incoming change, however, i'll get almost the full dollarydoo, BUT they'll charge the Patreon, the supporters which make a lot of projects possible, YOU, for another 0,30 cents or so. Which is unfair, and plainly stupid as it will make a lot of people drop their pledges to many projects, which is plenty reasonable of a thing to do if this change comes to terms. This is not a cry for help Patreon stop this change, as I'm pretty sure they will get it through, but an advise to help people unaware of this to not get peeled off their hard earned money by the greed of another bigass company. Stay alert. If you see it coming and feel like dropping your support, I'll fully understand it, and if push come to shove I'll find another way to get your support. The sea is vast and ther will be another meeting point, I'm sure of it. I'm now going back to my hometown for the weekend, but I'd like to see your opinions on this, alternatives you might know, and what will you do if this change goes live. TL;DR Patreon wants to tax Patrons for every one of their pledges. Fuck that. I hope I understood that right, I would look like a goofball if I didn't.

Judging from the email, you're pretty much spot on on what they are going to do. It's really going to screw over patreons that donate to content creators that charge per post rather than monthly donations. Love how they are trying to frame this as "creators will get 15 cents more".
2017-12-07 20:21:59 +0000 UTCI just got that email. I'm more than a little annoyed about it, since it's a % of each pledge you do. I'll probably end up culling a few pledges I have because of it. But unfortunately there's not much more about it any of us can do. I'll still be around here at the least.
