What would 80's sci-fi be without a futuristic corridor to run through? More video FX work on this one, but also some in-camera FX as well.
The starburst explosions are all in-camera. Poser doesn't have a particle system though, so these were created in photoshop, and pasted onto transparent planes in the scene, with point lights as their centers to give the illusion that they are throwing off light. This gives the same general effect of the type of firework explosions that were so common in 80's sci-fi TV.
The laserbeam is a combination of an in-camera effect (the beam) and an overlay effect (the glow around it) - the beam is a cyllindrical prop that is actually a physical part of the gun model, which can be extruded into a beam shape, via a morph target.
The corridor model itself is based on sets designed and built for the old Space Academy / Jason Of Star Command tv shows from Filmation. One of the hallmarks of 80's sci-fi TV was the re-use of existing sets and props. So I made a deliberate choice to copy at least one existing set, that might have been available for filming, having been left laying around in storage someplace, with some minor redressing.
