Long unedited video about a drill press

Also runout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfPCK3iLku8

I've never waited so long for a BG delivery: Almost 2 months! But then again it probably took a while to develop that intricate cocoon packaging ...

The DC drill press looks jazzy, the power supply feels like a Kinder surprise egg, but actually lives up to its spec for a few minutes. I had expected the LED display to show RPM instead of voltage.

That obviously needs to be replaced with an adjustable voltage regulator or even a BLDC + driver?

It feels pretty good now, but the spindle is a steel tube sliding in an aluminium block, that's no good. If the steel tube happens to have a suitable diameter, it could be possible to put it in a round linear bearing block.

German engineers are spinning in their graves... I've seen some sh*tty power tools, but never have I seen one that used a barrel connector for power. Or that had a built-in multi-meter instead of a speed control. I think perhaps a Dremel tool spun itself a cocoon of plastic, molted, and emerged as a new and frightening life form.

just waiting for a metal flake to fly towards the open mains connections on the power supply... ;-)

Thanks for the feedback and the patronage!! I'll definitely give shorter videos for suitable topics a try

Cool looking product. I became a patreon of yours because of your witty commentary and unusual take on things. It's a shame when these unedited videos get posted. I'm not saying every video needs to all be superbly edited, but doing a little voiceover on them, using the text you already wrote for this post, and labeling the video something like "quick peak" (or similar) to identify it as something that stands alone from your usual videos would be a great middle ground. Thanks

missed opportunity for better video :(

Yay, flying metal chips near the uncovered and live power supply circuit board... looks like an exciting idea! ;)
