It's Friday, aka "close enough to the weekend" day here at A Dose of Buckley! By now I think everyone's familiar with things like A.I. Art (Craiyon/Dall-E for example) as well as that old "we put every [TV show] script into a computer and it wrote an episode for us!" meme that... almost definitely didn't involve anyone actually putting anything into a computer, it was just people simulating how funny it is when a computer tries to create something artistic. But the question, "can machines become better at artistic endeavors than humans?" is a pretty interesting one... and I think you'll find after this video that the answer is "they certainly aren't yet, but also there are a lot of humans that are pretty bad at art too". Enjoy!
Artificial Intelligence being used in the art world has been a highly controversial subject over the last few years. Buckley takes a brief look at the trend of A.I. art, and discusses FN Meka, a "virtual rapper" that was advertised as the first A.I. musician signed to a major record label. But IS FN Meka the product of Artificial Intelligence? OR is the whole project just Artificial? AND, can robots appropriate culture?
