Steven Universe Pilot + Shorts Reaction
Added 2024-01-23 06:57:08 +0000 UTCI think this was the prefect time to check out all the shorts. One last lookback at what makes the show so great. It was cool checking out the self esteem PSA 's in the new animation style as well but unfortunately we didn't know about the anti-racism PSA's when we filmed this. That pilot is a whole other beast though. The bones of the show are there but they went a whole different route with the art style.

2024-01-24 10:56:01 +0000 UTCAs far as the pilot goes you can really see The Simpsons influence on Rebecca Sugar in my opinion. The long philtrums, the loose, early-simpsons-ish fluid motions, the sprinkled donuts lol. Steven universe in general is like if the Simpsons (recurring cast of fleshed-out characters, each with their consistent role in the community) had a baby with a magical girl anime. Sugar actually made a short Simpsons inspired comic you can find online called Don't Cry For Me, I'm Already Dead (warning: it's sad).
