Switching to the "charge up front" option!

Ahoy hoy, everyone!

I've been just informed that Patreon has the option to charge new Patrons upfront, so I wanted to inform you that I will activate this option.

What does it do?

New Patrons will be charged at the day they join, so they get acces to patron only post way sooner.

For Patrons who are already supporting my Patreon wouldn't change much.

You will still be charged at the 1st of the month like usual.

The only difference for already existing Patrons will be, that if you switch your pledge to a higher tier, you will be charged the difference from your old pledge to the new one, at the day when you switched your tier.

(Like, if a 5$ Patron upgrades to 20$, that Patron will be charged 15$ on that day and also get's access to the rewards right away.)

This is beneficial for all of us, since:

-new Patrons will recieve access to Patreon rewards on the day they pledge, instead of waiting for the next month.

-People, who might try to exploit Patreons old system by selecting a tier, but not actually paying that tier while still grabing the rewards, can't do this anymore.

-This also means I can post rewards like download links into Patreon posts, instead of sending them via PMs like I usually did, saving me a lot of time and work. Also new Patrons don't have to ask for the download links anymore.

So overall, it's faster for everyone, it's less work for me and scamming shouldn't be possible anymore, which is why I think I should activate the "charge up front" option.

I've read the FAQ about this and as far as I can see, there should be no downsides to it, as we already have monthly pledges.
