Chapter 11 - Stray Chess play

Summary: Tony’s rescue draws new allies, deadlier battles, and unexpected bonds.

Tony was about to go toward the sources of the groans when another group ran into the room.

In the head of the group was the ever-recognizable Ms. Gremory. Hot on her heels was none other than Ms. Himejima. After those two entered Kiba and the white-haired girl followed. And behind them all was Hyoudou panting as he stopped at the back of the group.

The first four looked around the room, which honestly was a rather favorable term for it right now. With two large holes in the ceiling, a couple of craters in the ground. Fires burning around the entrance between a lot of rubble, and behind him was the broken cross with a broken magical circle around it. That's not to mention all the bodies around the room. One of them was a low level fallen with a hole in his gut and chest, the other one high-level without a head and a few priests with holes, burns and more.

The jaws of the devils kept dropping further and further the more they looked, and reached an all time low when their eyes fell on the decapitated form of the fallen angel.

There was a tense silence for a moment before Gremory exclaimed loudly "What the fuck?!"

Tony sighed—this was going to be a hell of a headache, no pun intended. He side-eyed the group and tiredly said "I thought I told you to stay away Ms. Gremory."

The red head gave him a disbelieving look and she began ranting "We knew about four fallen angels in our territory, and the rogue priest they usually draw in with them. You mentioned someone trying to steal a sacred gear from its wielder and you thought as the ones in charge of this town we could stay away? Not to mention you can hardly fulfill your side of our deal if you get yourself killed."

Tony waved his hand across the room as he responded "The fallen angels are dealt with, the priests are not a problem anymore, the wielder and the sacred gear are safe and I am alive and well, so you have nothing to worry about."

Gremory narrowed her eyes at him "I can see that! But how did you do it? I know you managed to defeat a mid-level fallen angel a few days ago, but even four low level should be a problem for one fighter. And the damage, how..."

Gremory was cut mid-rant by Himejima who gasped loudly "President!" The raven-haired woman was standing over the headless fallen pointing at the corpse's wings with a face filled with shock.

Gremory's own eyes widened as she yelped "That's a high-level fallen angel!" She turned to him and asked desperately "How could you do that?! Not only defeating him, but you cut his head off."

Tony glared at the body and replied simply "He insulted somebody important to me."

The devil in charge gulped audibly. Probably realizing that the fallen was stronger than her and Tony killed him without a second thought.

That was when a weak voice from behind him called out "Tony-kun?"

Tony ran quickly to Asia's side "Are you okay there blondie?"

The nun nodded slowly "Yes. I feel fine, but I can't move."

Tony frowned and looked at the chains for a moment. As much as he hated to do it in front of other people he began reaching toward his chest, but before he could a female voice said "Let me."

Tony looked as the white haired girl from Gremory's club stepped next to the cross binding Asia and used her bare hands to snap all the chains holding the nun.

Tony blinked at the display of strength for a moment before smiling at the girl and saying genuinely "Thank you, Ms..." He trailed off realizing she was the only one not introduced to him yet.

The white-haired girl didn't seem to take offense and replied in an even tone "Toujou. Koneko Toujou. First year."

Tony nodded and bowed his head a little "Thank you Ms. Toujou."

The girl just shrugged and returned back to stand with Gremory's group. Tony stood up slowly, helping Asia to her own feet.

Tony was yet to even let the blonde go when Hyoudou opened his mouth "Oh wow, look at that cutie, and look at her body. I mean her boobs might be a little small, but she can totally be part of my harem." He finished exhaling as if he was the most generous man in the world by offering it.

Tony looked at Asia, her underwear exposing most of her skin, including her breasts only barely hiding the nipples and her lower part was covered only by cotton panties as well. He turned to the brunet teen to see him drooling while his eyes moved over Asia's form.

His blood began to boil over again and his mind was already moving his hand toward the watch ready to blast a hole in the new devil.

Before he could reach it Hyoudou doubled over in pain from a punch to the gut courtesy of Toujou. The girl looked disgusted at the boy on the floor and spat "Pervert."

Kiba was looking between the boy on the floor and Tony with cold sweat running down his neck, not sure what to do.

Gremory herself was pale and staring at Hyoudou with a look that screamed 'are you crazy' before snapping at him "Issei! Stark-san just took the head off a fallen angel stronger than me for insulting that girl, are you insane to do the same thing?! Apologize this instant!"

Hyoudou seemed to realize the situation and immediately began to grovel "I'm sorry man, I didn't mean it like that! I just wanted to say she... Agh" He yelped in pain when Toujou kicked him from behind.

Kiba sweat dropped and tried to remain calm as he advised his clubmate "I think she meant you need to apologize to the girl dude."

Hyoudou confused about the situation just screamed "I'M SORRY!" in their direction and then hid behind Gremory.

Himejima giggled a little awkwardly, in an obvious attempt to diffuse the tension "Fu, fu I hope you can forgive our friend for his behavior Stark-kun, we all want to stay friends after all."

Tony wanted to argue when another voice called "Stark-sama." He turned to see Raynare and both her friends awake and standing in the corner huddled up while staring at the headless body of their former leader.

Tony gave her a gentle smile "You three are safe now. He won't be able to hurt you anymore." Then he frowned "I suggest you go to that Azazel guy you mentioned earlier and tell him about what's going on. Keep the device I gave you, and use it if you need to."

Raynare smiled back at him and said gratefully "Thank you very much Stark-sama. We will be sure to inform the governor about this and let you know his decision."

Tony gave the three a nod and the three of them used their wings to fly through the holes in the ceiling.

Gremory looked at him in shock "So those are the spies you mentioned? How did you convince them to work with you?"

Tony grunted and considered how he should respond when JARVIS informed him "The car has pulled up at the lower entrance of the church Sir."

Tony sighed—he shrugged his jacket off and covered Asia with it. Luckily his jacket was big enough to cover her from the shoulders to her thighs. He looked at the occult club "I need to take her home, my mom is worried. You have my number, call me if you need something."

Gremory nodded with a small smile "I will be sure to do it. And don't worry about this mess, we will take care of this—it's the least we can do."

Tony gave them a nod and led Asia out of the church and toward the car JARVIS brought for them.

As they were driving back home Asia spoke for the first time "Thank you, for coming to save me Tony-kun."

Tony smiled at the girl and said from the bottom of his heart "I promised you Asia, didn't I?"

Asia's smile grew larger "You did."

The rest of the drive was calm, that was until they entered the house. Tony barely had time to blink before his mom was already hugging Asia.

His mom was hugging the nun tightly and apologizing "If something would have happened to you... I waited so long for a daughter and to lose you would have broken my heart."

Tony smiled a little when he saw the happy tears leaking from Asia's eyes as she hugged his mom back "Thank you. I-I love being here with all of you too. I am happy Tony-kun brought me to our home."

His mom pulled back from the hug to smile at the girl and that was when she noticed what she was wearing, or more like what she wasn't wearing. She was outraged and it took some time for Tony to spin a story about her abusers from before finding her and kidnapping her. Tony found the GPS chip he hid on her and went there to rescue her. He might have had to fight a couple of thugs before the police showed up and took everyone into custody.

Maria seemed mollified by that explanation, but refused to leave Asia's side as the girls went to the upper floor so Asia could clean and rest a little.

Tony sat down on the couch and let out a heavy sigh. He didn't much enjoy killing all those people, or beings, or whatever, but if there was something he learned from Thanos it was that powerful enemies like those required permanent and swift solutions.

Before Tony's thoughts could spiral further JARVIS spoke "You have a call from Ms. Gremory, Sir."

Tony looked at the closest camera and gave it a short nod. A moment later Gremory's voice came through "Stark-san is this a good time?"

"Of course, Ms. Gremory. How can I help you?" Tony replied casually.

Tony thought he heard a smile in her voice "I thought you would like to know that we dealt with all the mess in the church, so you can expect no further trouble in that regard, but I also have to inform my brother of these events, just so you know."

Tony frowned "Your brother?"

Gremory sighed "Well this is a little complicated. I will give you a book on Devil history and society tomorrow so you could understand that better. For now I have an offer for you. Tomorrow afternoon me and the club have a little job to do and I thought you would like to join and see some of our powers in action."

Tony felt his heart swell in excitement and he responded immediately "Of course. I would love to."

Gremory chuckled a little and said "Meet us in the club room, tomorrow after school."

Tony confirmed his agreement and the call came to an end. Now he couldn't wait for tomorrow.

Tony was standing next to Gremory as they watched a line of the four other club members facing a cave in the middle of a forest just outside of town.

Tony tilted his head "So we are here to hunt a stray devil. What is a stray devil?"

Gremory smiled at him and explained "Devils work in hierarchical groups. Each high-class devil gets the opportunity to form a group of up to 16 members with said devil in charge of them. Are you familiar with the game of Chess?"

Tony nodded along with her explanation so far—at her last question he commented dryly "I'm the smartest man on the planet."

Gremory chuckled "Right. Well each member of said group is represented by one of the pieces in the game, the piece will usually be decided by the individual's talents. Stray devils are a member of a group who chose to betray their master and kill the high-class devil."

"Sir, the demonic energy inside the cave has begun to increase and move," JARVIS informed Tony.

Tony's body tensed and his guard was up "The stray is coming out," Tony warned a moment before what at first looked like a snake came rushing out of the cave.

A maniacal laughter filled the air and that was when Tony noticed that while the creature looked like a scaled snake from the waist down he had humanoid features upwards. He was a male with long blonde hair, sharp eyes and what looked like fangs in his mouth.

Toujou was the first to run forward, and as she prepared to attack the stray Gremory spoke again "Koneko is a rook. She can withstand large amounts of damage unphased and..." the little girl punched the creature in its gut, sending it into the cave's outer wall "Well, her strength speaks for itself." Tony could only nod.

The creature tried to slither forward, but Kiba rushed forward at blinding speed and used the sword he was holding to cut the scales so the creature would have to suffer through pain if it wanted to move on the ground. "Kiba is a knight. He is fast and his skills with the sword are one of the highest possible," Gremory explained again.

Hyoudou raised his left fist, and in a flash of light it was covered in a red gauntlet—a deep voice called out 'BOOST' and the teen ran forward, without any plan. Gremory yelled out "Issei watch out!"

The creature opened his mouth and spat green liquid at the charging devil. Hyoudou managed by miracle to dodge the attack which melted the ground underneath it. "Acid," Tony hissed under his breath.

His eyes widened when a second attack followed the first immediately when the creature spat another shot of acid at Gremory, who was so focused on Hyoudou she missed it.

Cursing under his breath Tony touched his watch twice at the same time he leaped at Gremory. She yelped as both of them were pulled to the ground, the acid flying over their heads. The tree behind them taking the hit and melting away.

"Sir, a third attack is coming," JARVIS warned.

Tony aimed his gauntlet at the creature's opened mouth and sent a blast straight into it. The acid apparently was flammable and Tony's attack caused it to explode in the stray's mouth.

The creature howled in pain. Himejima stepped forward with a large smile and said in a husky voice "Oh, it looks like Stark-kun enjoys dealing out pain as well. It makes me so hot, but I can't let him have all the fun." With a giggle she raised her hand and soon afterwards a bolt of lightning came down on the stray.

The creature screamed out again, and the raven-haired devil held the attack for quite a while before stopping and allowing the stray to drop on the ground, twitching with pain.

Tony sighed and tried to push himself off the ground, but instead of solid ground what he felt was soft and shaped like a small mountain. Looking down he saw his right hand cupping Gremory's rather large breast.

His eyes widened—he quickly pushed himself upwards, invoking a moan from Gremory's lips as he put more pressure on her boob.

He tried to act calm and offered the red-head a hand. She accepted the help and once she was on her feet she blushed, before turning to the stray and clearing her throat.

The high-class devil turned serious and declared in a noble voice "Stray. You have betrayed your master and tormented the travelers of this forest, for this you must die a thousand deaths—any last words?"

Gremory raised her right hand—a concentrated crimson ball began forming over the magical circle she formed in her palm.

The stray looked at her and screamed "Screw you, Crimson bit..."

Before he could finish Gremory said dryly "Die." And launched the medium sized ball at the creature who once it reached contact with the ball disintegrated into ashes.

Tony's eyes widened at the display before him. He was glad that JARVIS was ordered to scan all magic performed for the past hour in detail—he would have a field day with just Gremory's ability alone.

"So you are the king. Obviously, the most powerful and leader of the group. I will assume that Himejima is the queen," Tony spoke drawing Gremory's attention.

The redhead nodded "Yes. She possesses the skills of all other pieces. The strength of rook, speed of knight and magic of bishop. Issei meanwhile is a pawn."

Tony hummed in understanding "Fascinating. Your group can still grow a lot."

Gremory smiled "Yes. Though thanks to Issei's potential he took all eight of my pawn pieces, and I already have one bishop that's... indisposed for a while yet."

Tony nodded in understanding, his eyes shifted to a red-faced Hyoudou wondering what his potential was.

Gremory cleared her throat drawing his attention back to her. She had a small blush on her face as she said "Thank you for saving me... Stark-kun."

Tony just smiled and said casually "Don't mention it Ms. Gremory."

The red-head smiled back at him "Please call me Rias, Stark-kun. I hope you enjoyed our little display today, and that the book I gave you earlier will come in handy."

Tony smiled widely back at Rias "Oh I'm sure it will."
