Summary: Team Flash vs. Meta army
Barry was the first to encounter an enemy. The first one to come his way was someone with the same body type as the bald man from before, but she was a female with buzzed-cut brunette hair. She was wearing what looked like a wrestling outfit.
Barry tried to punch her in super speed, and while it felt like he was hitting skin texture, it looked like he was hitting a wall. That was when Barry remembered the woman's file.
'Density enhancement' allowing the meta, Nadia Cole, to increase the density of her body. Causing each of her hits to feel like a wrecking ball just struck you, and at the same time makes her immune to any physical damage.
So, from Barry's perspective, the most important thing right now was to evade each of her hits and figure out a way to find her weakness.
Avoiding her punches wasn't too hard. Barry was trained by Oliver, and the man used all kinds of martial arts against him. Even with super speed, it's impossible to guess where all the next attacks will come from, and Barry learned that the hard way.
This woman, on the other hand, came from the wrestling scene, which means most of her moves involved punching as hard as she could once she found an opening. Something Barry could easily avoid with his powers, but that left both of them in a standstill. She couldn't land a hit on him, and all of his attacks were useless.
Barry could see from the corner of his eyes Frost fighting another female, who was dressed in what looked like a very exposing outfit as it only covered her chest, waist, and lap. All of the rest of her skin was exposed, and her long, blonde hair was tied in a high ponytail.
Frost shot a couple of icicles at her shoulders, but before the icicles could touch the blonde, they melted into steam. Frost frowned and shot a long wave of cold air toward her opponent only to be met with the same result. Hot steam filled the air between them.
Miranda Chase, she had the ability to release extreme heatwaves from her skin, which explains the outfit, Barry supposed. Though more importantly, it made her a great counter for Frost's ice powers.
The woman laughed, and her voice held a harsh edge to it as she mocked Frost. "For months I waited to see how the powers of the ice queen would hold against mine!"
Frost raised an eyebrow and asked, "Okay lady, what's your deal?"
The blonde frowned at Frost and spat, "My deal?! What's your deal, you man-stealing bitch!"
Frost blinked twice and asked in a very confused voice, "Umm... What the hell are you on about? The only man I've ever been with is the handsome speedster right there." She used her thumb to point at Barry.
The blonde seemed to only grow more and more angry, and she shouted at Frost, "Exactly! The Flash was supposed to be mine! We would have been perfect together. We are both so hot it would have burned any villain that got close." She finished in a dreamy voice.
Frost rubbed the bridge of her nose and said in an exhausted voice, "Look, psycho, you never even met him. He is a person, you know, and there is more than just liking each other's body to it. Plus, being rejected isn't exactly a good reason to join a madman that wants to destroy all life on the planet."
Okay, now Barry himself was getting annoyed. What did Frost mean by 'rejected'?! He never even met this woman, far less rejected her!
The heat meta growled back at Frost, "Easy for you to say, ice bitch. But after this, The Flash will finally notice me and realize what I did a long time ago, that..."
Frost cut her off with a growl of her own. "I've had enough of that." His fiancée raised her hands and thick, cold mist began to gather around them.
The delusional woman snorted and said mockingly, "Still haven't learned your lesson. Fine by me, the more I humiliate you, the more The Flash will love me later."
With a hiss from her blue lips, Frost sent a wave of ice straight toward Miranda. The blonde smirked, and Barry could see the heatwaves in the air around her, but he also noticed that the ice of Frost wasn't the same color as usual—it was more... dense.
As the ice got closer to the meta, more and more steam began to fill the air, but the ice wasn't disappearing. Miranda noticed it too just before the ice hit her, and her eyes grew wider. She was about to speak but that was when the ice impacted with her forehead, knocking her out.
Frost smirked for a moment before moving on to the next meta.
Barry noticed how she dealt with the counter to her power by overwhelming Miranda, but as Barry considered the option, he realized it wouldn't work for him. Nadia's ability might make it feel like he was hitting a wall, but it was still her skin...
Wait! It was still skin. Barry ducked under another punch while he turned his head to look toward Harry. Harry was facing a meta that could disappear into the shadows and reappear from another one.
Harry was holding his own pretty well. The meta had an amazing ability but no combat capabilities. He would pop out of thin air and punch his surprised opponent, which Barry guessed was how Harry got the bruise on his cheek. But once one knows about his shadow travel ability, this meta is not so dangerous.
It seems like it took Harry a moment to read this man's pattern, but once he did, Harry smirked and raised his gun to shoot at what looked like an empty point of air. A moment after pulling the trigger, the meta appeared out of the shadows into the same space Harry expected and got blasted back from the energy shot.
The meta dropped to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Barry took the opportunity immediately and called through the comms, "Harry, I need you to aim a high voltage shot at Cole."
Barry didn't have time to get confirmation from Harry before he had to narrowly dodge a combination of punch and kick aimed at his gut.
Nadia smirked once she noticed Barry tripping over his own feet because of the quick dodge. She raised her fist and said in a deep voice Barry didn't expect to come from a female, "Lights out, Flash."
But just before she could bring the punch down, her body began twitching as if someone electrocuted her, and she fell to the ground face first.
Barry could see Harry was still aiming his weapon in that direction. He nodded in thanks to the genius; the whole situation reminded Barry of the first time they met. Harry had just saved Barry from King Shark, and Harry was about to vibrate his head off once he saw the face of his worst enemy back from the dead.
Barry shook his head and took a moment to catch his breath while looking at the battlefield.
The first thing he wanted to see was what DeVoe was doing. The madman was floating in the same spot. His fists clenched tightly, and his lips pressed in a thin line.
Barry could see why—a few meta humans that seemed to try and attack Barry or Frost while they were already fighting someone were kept being interrupted by either orange or blue lightning streaks. A few of them were met with an energy shot that would come out of a breach in the middle of the air, without any doubt the work of Cisco and Wally.
DeVoe also seemed to notice that the entire block had been evacuated and there was a police blockade at every exit.
DeVoe gritted his teeth and hissed, "How? How could you counter every aspect of my plan?! My calculations prove this should not be possible, especially not for someone as simple-minded as you, Flash."
Barry didn't answer the man and instead sped right toward him, but before he could reach DeVoe, a column of fire erupted out of the earth, causing Barry to fall to the ground so he could stop himself before he was toasted alive.
Barry panted out of surprise. There wasn't anyone on the list with this kind of ability; such strong pyrokinesis surely would stand out to Barry, so what was going on? There was something off about this fire as well, something...
Barry had to pause again when he noticed he was surrounded by Bran, Simone, Mike, and Kevin. Barry frowned. He thought that they were still in Iron Heights; Joe didn't call with any update that would change that. Did DeVoe just teleport them out of their cells again at this moment?
There was a yelp coming from his right, and Barry turned to see the origin of it only to see Jesse bent over with her hands on her knees, and she was panting heavily. She looked like she was drained of all energy.
In front of her stood two of the meta humans. One was tall and thin with brown skin, without any hair in sight. His eyes were locked on Jesse, and his hand was on the shoulder of the man next to him.
Said man was average height with dark skin and long hair in rastas. He had a good amount of muscles that he showed off by not wearing a shirt at all. His right fist was glowing with an electric, orange energy.
Barry paled as he recognized the two men. The first one was Devin Drake, and he had the ability to accelerate his perception—in other words, he could sort of enter Flash-time as well, just without speed. His abilities wouldn't help much with crime usually, but when the main superhero of the city is a speedster, this ability comes in handy. And apparently, DeVoe taught him how to extend this ability through touch.
The other man was Isaac Trent; his ability was stealing the energy from his opponent before redirecting it back outwards. Once it was only toward the same opponent as well, though his abilities seemed to have developed to the point he could store said energy for a short period of time and choose where to redirect it.
Isaac smirked at Jesse. "Not so quick anymore, are you, girl?"
Jesse raised her head to glare at him, but that just made the other meta chuckle and say darkly, "There is no use for that. It's time to teach you your place in this world."
Isaac then pulled his fist back and threw a punch toward Jesse. The girl was still exhausted from the energy that was stolen from her and couldn't move. That was when another breach opened straight in front of Jesse, and Wally jumped out of it, weapon raised.
Wally pulled the trigger at the same time the glowing punch hit him in his chest.
Unfortunately for Wally, the breach behind him had already closed, and he was sent flying to land a few meters away on the asphalt with a sickening 'thump' sound.
The shot that left Wally's gun managed to hit a surprised Devin, and the thin man fell to the ground with smoke coming out of the left side of his face.
Isaac looked surprised. He glanced at his downed companion before glancing at Wally and then looking down at his fist. After a moment, he smiled and said out loud, "Holy shit, didn't see that coming."
Jesse froze for a long moment, looking at Wally. She slowly began to walk toward him when she heard what Isaac said, and she stopped in her tracks. When she turned and saw the smile on the meta's face, her own features contorted in fury.
Suddenly her body was engulfed with yellow lightning again, and she sped toward the dark-skinned man. Isaac noticed the lightning, and the only thing he could do before the punch hit him was say, "Shit!"
Isaac was sent a few meters backwards, hit a wall, and dropped to the ground, bleeding.
Jesse was quick—no pun intended—to speed toward Wally. She laid her hand gently on his chest. Barry noticed the sparks connecting her fingers to his chest and wondered what it was about.
But then he quickly shook his head and spoke into his comm, "Lyra, keep your position; Cisco, I need a breach to take Wally to the med bay."
Both voices responded at once, "Copy."
A moment later, a breach opened under where Wally was laying, and he was out of the fight. None of them knew if he was even still alive, which both worried and angered Barry.
Barry turned and glared at a grinning DeVoe.
