July Updates

We're only in mid-July and already we've seen quite a few premium updates this month. Everything from the July Waypoints newsletter plus the groovy new Partial Repair feature, and a few more items that are listed below.

Efficient Crafting

In the past year or so the premium Tradeskills window has gotten some amazing improvements [1] [2] [3] [4], all built from requests by Darq Side members. But Alils recently noticed a small detail that still needed some attention. For dedicated tradeskillers who expect maximum efficiency, opening the Tradeskills window should immediately focus on the Recipe Search box. This way, you can bypass the extra step of clicking the box in order to call up your next recipe.

A small detail, but if you're doing it dozens of times in a session it all adds up. The newest Recipe Book version gives you a choice. In the Window Manager, check or uncheck Focus on Crafting Search box on open.

PvP Stats

When the new Event (Plume) slot was added, it made the previously compact DarqUI Character window slightly less compact. With a bit of extra real estate at the bottom of the Combat Stats page, the PvP section finally has room to be shown along with everything else. Also the newer Power Resistance stat was added to the Defense section.

I don't know about you, but it's rare that I ever need to use the Stats sidebar. The Combat Stats tab has all the data I need except for Tradeskill stats, and the Tradeskills window itself can already show all of those as an option.

(Side note: You may not have noticed but each stat on the Combat Stats tab is clickable, with a colored background toggle that's visually helpful when you want to keep track of a certain group of stats beyond what's shown on the XP window. Try it and you'll see what I mean.)

Nav Bar Toggle

The floating Nav Bar now has a preset toggle shortcut for the XP Bar or Start Menu. (You can add the Nav Bar shortcut to the Nav Bar itself, but a word of warning: toggling the window from itself will disrupt the Norrathian continuum and, depending on which operating system you use, your PC may literally turn itself inside-out. So configure carefully!)

Server Select Dropdown

These days I only run the LaunchPad on patch days. All other days I use the blue EQ2 icon to log in, where I'm presented with the friendly and all-inclusive DarqUI Login window (below).

If you haven't set up all of your accounts and characters in the utility yet, or if you want to play a character that's not listed, you can now (finally) pick from an updated list of servers instead of typing the name into the "World" box.

Mercenary Health and Power Display

Statflation doesn't just affect characters -- mercenaries' Health and Power are also getting a bit too large for the Merc Stats sidebar in the Character window. Recently Darq Side member Dr. Pepper mentioned in Discord that there should be some way to see the entire stat, especially when using a wider font such as Trebuchet.

Here is a low-impact solution in the form of a modified tooltip that shows Health and Power values without anything overlapping the text.
