Mercenary Delayed Assist

The Verdict Is In

If you play a fighter, scout or mage, especially when running solo zones, it's almost a guarantee that you'll have an Inquisitor mercenary in your bag of tricks.

In the more advanced zones where even trash encounters can get a little dicey if I'm not careful, my usual setup has the Inquisitor on Follow and Protect, but I'll set the Assist dropdown to "None." This is to make sure she pays 100% attention to me and doesn't get distracted swinging that hammer around. But toward the end of an encounter when I'm reasonably sure of success, I'll generally hit the red Attack button to give the merc a chance to earn her salary with a well-timed Verdict.

A new premium feature called Delayed Assist is available now and if the above scenario describes you at all, I think you're going to enjoy using it. With the Assist dropdown set to None, mouse over the extra icon in the merc window to set a target enemy health percentage below which the merc will begin attacking your target automatically. This percentage will stay set for all subsequent encounters unless you change it, so you don't have to do anything else (click the screenshot above.)

The Inquisitor will continue attacking the enemy target, usually finishing with a Verdict. When the next encounter begins, the mercenary will once again be Following and Protecting you, but not Assisting, until that health percentage is reached again. Convenient!

Give it a try -- it's a lot less button-clicking!

PS: Don't forget you have a Small Mercenary window option on the updater, as well as a hybrid Mercenary window that stays in one place on the screen!
