Figured all ships would have something to destroy asteroids or other debris coming at them while in space, even if it's fairly weak otherwise. Seems like the type of thing you'd want to give even a regular passenger liner to prevent accidents. Auto targeting of similar things would also be the type of system I'd expect on any ship of a high enough advancement in technological progression of any species.

Would have been fun watching it's targeting system start blasting away at everything hostile it came across. Especially if it auto adapted all creatures that show the same energy signal as hostile. Would have made things far better for everyone.
