Looked like Kotozakura's ankle was in a bad position when Takerufuji pushed him to his right. Then he buckled and fell.

That’s a big boy shove right there!

I suspected one of kotos knees are injured. His ability to push forward is almost non existent. Everything koto does is from the hips trying to throw his opponent to the side. If I’m facing koto I would copy what taker did in this bout.

Another lopsided pairing from the ends of Division 1's bansuke! Epic UPSET! Goes to the edge! Balance compromised is balance lost!

That's a GTFOH move by Taker!! Move bitch lol

Kotozakura has fast become one of my favorite wrestlers. I hope he trains hard in the off month and comes back strong in March. I believe he can be a Yokozuna

To answer your question regarding yusho winners who tanked the next basho and were in all 15 days, there have been a few. I checked Sumo Database, and here's what I found: Since 2001, eight yusho winners have gone make-koshi in the next basho while staying for all 15 days. The worst was Kyokutenho, who won the May 2012 yusho with a 12-3 from M7w, then had a 2-13 score in July. Tokushoryu followed up his miracle 14-1 yusho from M17w (Jan 2020) with a 4-11. Tamawashi has done it twice. Others who pulled off this dubious feat include Kaio, Asanoyama, Mitakeumi, and Ichinojo. I think that if Kotozakura loses before seshuraku, he'll go kyujo. He's clearly not genki, so why aggravate an injury? For him there's no practical difference between 5-10 and 7-8. He has to win out to avoid kadoban.

issue here was KZ's right foot was floating for seconds at the end, so when Takaru turned him fiercely, KZ didn't get his right foot in the right place to have leverage to slide or resist, and instead stumbled. Great bout!
