I've never seen Kotozakura so locked in before a match. Thanks for the coverage!

2024-11-25 00:24:37 +0000 UTCHosh slipped on salt and Koto waved at a falling Hosh. I think we all wanted a real squared up battle. We got Hosh pushing and moving Koto around and then slipping on his own. I'm happy for Koto to get the win finally, just wanted to see a good match and that wasn't it.

2024-11-24 23:54:59 +0000 UTCWatch the foot slip & loss of traction (hazards of the course)! Had that not happened, their mixing it up would have continued. Zakura did aid in the kimarite but Hoshoryu would have still fallen due to loss of balance - the slip was unrecoverable. In that sense, Hoshoryu simply lost.

2024-11-24 23:28:02 +0000 UTCWould have been interesting to see who won if Hoshoryu hadn't slipped.

2024-11-24 23:23:46 +0000 UTCHow was that cheap, he defended Hoshoryu's greatest weapon, the throw, threw him off balance and slapped him down. Great win by Koto.

2024-11-24 22:41:39 +0000 UTCCheap win as I see it, but well fought over all! But it does set the stage for possible 2 shin-yokozuna next year!

2024-11-24 20:55:37 +0000 UTCI was so nervous for both of them, bummer that my guy lost! Can't wait to see if we'll enter an era with 3 yokozuna. I can only hope!

2024-11-24 17:47:56 +0000 UTCSlippyotoshi decides the yusho is a little disappointing since Hoshoryu was dominating Koto there but a win’s a win

2024-11-24 17:29:42 +0000 UTCGreat tournament. It would be very interesting indeed if the scenario you described came to be with both of them getting the white rope at the same time.

2024-11-24 17:17:36 +0000 UTCWhat a great match! And a 14-1 is a VERY strong yusho record, so all eyes will be on him in January as he makes a rope run! Exciting times for sumo at the start of 2025!

2024-11-24 15:55:22 +0000 UTCIt will really be interesting to see Hoshoryu's plan next time they meet -- see if he abandons the throw -- Kotozakura has a new aura about him, easy to see the white belt on him.

2024-11-24 14:38:21 +0000 UTCActually, there was a promotion to Yokozuna without any yusho! The infamous late Futahaguro Kōji (Kōji Kitao), who after promotion proved to be a serious headache for everyone.
