Takasago said he needs to get surgery done, and said that they need to deal with it properly and allow it to heal up. Its expected that the healing process will last for 6 months. Which will place Asanoyama somewhere in Sandanme.

He ruined his career by not adhering to covid protocols and lying about it, got severely punished. So sad that when he came back, he kept injuring himself. Fingers crossed for a Terunofuji-like recovery, but can that happen more than once in a generation?

2024-07-18 13:49:16 +0000 UTCJust an update, I looked around and found this article: https://www.nikkansports.com/m/battle/sumo/news/202407180000147_m.html It says he suffered a left ACL tear and may need 6 months or so to recover, plus a surgery. He is expected to drop to unsalaried rankings because of it.

2024-07-18 13:32:12 +0000 UTCPoor Asanoyama, I’d be surprised if that wasn’t a serious knee injury looking at the way it collapsed underneath him. Let’s hope not, but this sort of movement can often result in ACL/medial collateral injuries. I wish we could tell him we are all rooting for him ❤️💪
