But before then, this week I'm at last sitting down to shoot the annual Abroad in Japan Q&A for the main channel 🥳
I'd originally planned to film it a few months back, but so much has happened since then that I think now's the time do it.
I do always try to prioritise Patreon questions for the Abroad in Japan Q&A, but the good news is while this is the first and last Q&A of the year on Abroad in Japan channel, I'll also be filming a sepatate exclusive Patreon Q&A as well, where I'll answer all of your questions on here that we're not able to pack into the Abroad in Japan episode.

On my first holyday in Japan, I definitively want to make a similar tour. I like street photography, good food and coffee. Which stations from the list aren’t worth to leave the train and you would recommend skipping? Crowdy stations are not a problem. Whatever the reason. I enjoy them.

Your videos have been wonderfully inspiring as I've been preparing to visit Japan for last few years. My first visit to Japan last year was for 10 days and I felt I only scratched the surface. So I'm going again, in less than 2 weeks time, for a whole month, visiting a number of places including Tokyo, Sendai, Negoya and Ishikawa. So my question is do you have any recommendations for gifts, souvenirs or snacks to bring from the UK that would go down well with Japanese? However, I am a bit worried as I'm dealing with disability that makes long walks difficult or even standing sometimes. I've made enough progress to not have to wear leg braces anymore, so to anyone who doesn't know me, I may look normal. Do you think I will have trouble being judged as a "lazy American" or other such things if I have to sit in public? If I go to an amusement park, do they have options for those with disabilities to wait on a bench and enter after waiting for X minutes?

I think it is difficult because they often travel pretty far just to visit a bakery that advertises as gluten free. They have had success at larger grocery stores (so the stuff bigger than konbinis) and restaurants will try to accommodate allergies when told about it. It will probably take more effort on your part to ask about gluten free options than in a western metropolitan area. Good luck!

And then restaurants don't want to run the risk. I head onigiri is plain rice so might be ok. Sushi rice even has the vinegar in it; so there is gluten there. I'm asking you/ Sharla as I vaguely recall she had looked for some GF and other diets like vegan in the past TIA

For example, in Japan you see a lot more nigiri, while western sushi is more about rolls. Also, Japanese sush is more about the finesse of the rice in combination with a large variety of different kinds of fish, while European sushi seems to be more about battering rice and salmon in mayonaise or cream cheese and hope for the best. Jokes aside, I can appreciate both, but I was wondering how Japanese people view it.
