NaNoWriMo 2019 - Day #5

Anyhoo! At this moment I'm at 4972 words. Better! But behind where I'm supposed to be at (10,002) at this point in the race. But progress is progress!
Nell's cadence changed to her diplomatic voice that politicians seemed to favour in every world. "I'd be a fool to reject you after you've done nothing but tell the truth to us despite our initial hostilities. Again, I apologise for that. But...our community has certain needs that you are alone equipped to satisfy." Nell looked off to the side before continuing. "Vee has told me that her tests confirmed that, erm, you are biologically compatible with us."
Vee took over. "Dramatically so. Especially considering the limited amount of release, your fertility is rather prodigious."
"I...um...thanks?" he said, blushing. "I was kinda hoping this tech stuff would make it so I didn't have to impregnate anyone."
Her diplomatic smile faded. "Unfortunately, that is not the case. Please understand, Jesse, that if we don't replenish our numbers, this village is doomed. The counterattack took more than half our population, and the attempt to resail the Spyglass took still more. We're in constant danger from outside forces. We need numbers to keep us safe. Numbers that can only come from more births."
"And if I refuse?" he asked.
"I can't force you. But..." she spread her hands, looking for the right words but finding only silence.
"Please Jesse," Vee pleaded, sidling up beside Nell, "We need your help."
Oh gosh! Could there be breeding in this story about a guy surrounded by incredibly fertile Goblin women? IT'S MORE LIKELY THAN YOU THINK!
