Overwhelmed [WIP]

WOOHOO! My first comic commission :D 

This is a VERY rough WIP of a 2 page, 16 panel comic for Deximus. I went rougher than my usual for the first WIP since this is a bigger project that I need to take my time on yet also be quick about? Confusing, I know xD 

Basically being quick at the first pass allows me to get the idea across without getting hung up on details. With this first pass I wanted to get the comic layout figured out, first and foremost, and wanted to see what I could fit into the 8 panel per page limit. I think it worked out though! I then loosely sketched in stick figure-like characters, with simple basic expressions to get the story across. I'm hoping most of it is clear, but I'll provide you guys with a description for each panel, as I did for the client since not EVERYONE can read my messy drawings x'D 

Page 1:

Panel 1- Papers spread out across kitchen table. Splotcha is holding a pen as if she's going through papers making notes. Her other paw resting on the table.

Panel 2- Splotcha places the pen down, paws both resting on the table.

Panel 3- Splotcha stares at the paper work, looking very worried/stressed out. Java is revealed on the left, eating a meal (dinner, most likely, considering the next page takes place in the evening). He's got his mouth open as if he's taking a huge bite out of his meal.

Panel 4- Much! Java takes a bite of his meal, as Splotcha is looking more worried and stressed out.

Panel 5- Java is chewing his food until...

Panel 6- He hears sobbing from beside him, making him stop half way through chewing.

Panel 7- Java's attention is drawn to Splotcha, who now has her hands over her face as she quietly sobs into them (I'm thinking of having her paws intertwined with her fur as if she's grabbing/pulling her hair as well)

Panel 8- Java is now concerned for his friend.

Page 2:

Panel 1- Reveals Splotcha's room. The floor is in a mess of crumpled up papers, and she is found sleeping on her bed, curled up in the fetal position without a blanket.

Panel 2- Splotcha's face is revealed, asleep (tears will be seen in the corners of her eyes, as requested) but still looking stressed and very tired. 

Panel 3- Java enters the bedroom, the beam of light from the hallway illuminating Splotcha's face, making her shove her face deeper into her pillow

Panel 4- Another view of Splotcha, more of a side view, curled up in the fetal postion

Panel 5- Java's hands appear in the frame along with a blanket he carried in to tuck her into bed

Panel 6- Java give's Splotcha a hug

Panel 7- Java makes his way out of the room, Splotcha pushes her face into the blanket to sniff it.

Panel 8- Splotcha opens her eyes sightly and mumbles "Annoying ferret".

So that's that! 

Everything was approved by the client WHICH IS AWESOME! So the next WIP will be a more refined sketch, this time focusing on characters, giving them their form, refining things, etc etc. Basically how my regular WIP sketches look. Keep watch for that in the coming days!
