A commissioned piece for a painting this time around. I was asked to paint an older image I had done as a sketch years back and it proved to be a surprising challenge since I only had the flat lineart layer (I usually keep the multi-layer format as a separate file). But this was enjoyable. Painting a largely white wolf against a background of an evening in by the hearth is a bit of a bias of mine. I like 'cozy' pictures of it's kind.
This also hits on the 'more adult' thing I was talking about in one of the coffee rambles a while back. I largely kept away from the subject due to how I felt it was represented in most art that I saw. That it was largely ignoring the 'person' and rather showing the 'parts'.
I won't go into the whole reason that a lot of what is posted to FA doesn't appeal to me personally. It isn't a slight against creators who do create adult content, or that what they draw is any 'lesser' for it. I'm just not personally wired that way (I'm Ace, which is a whole other thing I won't go into). But I do love images that show bonds between people, the emotions of the moments, and even the playfulness of the person in question.
I do get why I'm a bit of an odd-person-out in that regard too. It's just how my neurons fire, and I try to never get obnoxious about it or put anyone down for liking what they like.
This image was a lot of fun to work on. It was crazy to try an paint out the lines.. because I put so much linework into everything when I don't have an immediate plan to paint it. But I liked the subject immensely.
With the (hopefully) end of the tax nightmare coming up in the next couple weeks, I'm looking forward to just doing a lot of free-form painting again, with commissions and with my own work. I'm thinking of taking part of my weekend to do art as well but only if I actually feel like doing it. I've found that Sunday just turns into me trying to find other work to do anyway, so I may as well make it enjoyable work.
Onto the next commissioned piece. This was good. Only my second commissioned work in probably the past five years or so. But I seem to have enough of the rust cleaned off. I do still need to figure out a better pricing structure, but this is me re-learning stuff that I haven't dealt with in probably 10 or more years.
