Good Neigh's Get Cookies

"Ey, Rok!  Yer a good neigh!  Know what good neigh's get?"

"..A pet on the nose!"

"Nah, better than that."

"Oh, I don't need bett--"

"You get a cookie."

"...I do like cookies."

"This one has chips of the chocolate in it."

"I do like chips of the chocolate persuasion.."

"An' walnuts.  It's a thousand nose-pets in one."

"I get a cookie?"

"Yup!  Yer a good neigh."

February was, by all accounts, a brutally bad m...

Hanno Concepts

Started as a Pathfinder character, Hanno Jatvirta is a sentinel (A type of ancestral guardian that look after sacred sealed statues in the wilds) from near the Tuulka Barrows in northern Valhaadrune.

He's still new to his role, and brash, and learning that you can't just smash head-long into every problem.  When the ancestral statue he was attuned to was destroyed and the heart-stone taken from it, he began a hunt to retrieve his ancestor, and put an end to the people who perpetrat...

Cat Day Afternoon - Inkwash

The 'inkwash' for sleet.  I'm going to try and start actually painting/colouring the rather massive backlog of sketches and inked pieces I have over the course of the month.  While there will be more sketches because.. I can't stop myself, I think I've got enough things to colour for probably the next several months at this point.

I should have this one finished by the end of the month for sure.

Pet your cats.

Valhaadrune (The known)

The 'known lands' of Valhaadrune.  This thing took a long, long while to finally flesh out to this degree.  It's basically all of the work I had on the main continent of Felwroth over the last what.. 20 years now.

Hoo, that made me feel old.

The nice thing about this map is that I could work on it while relaxing in the evenings.  I certainly don't have every town and city written out, but I do have every main area that's on this map at least summarized.  The bi...

Eden (Sketch)

Eden, meowing her way into the kitchen in the morning for a coffee.  I figured out (more or less) what most of the background elements would be.  The chair is from a free asset from Clip Studio that I changed pretty significantly.  It was driving me crazy trying to figure out the legs for some reason.

More lion-shenanigans to come, as this might be coloured.

The Mind Consumes You

So I had hoped to have a finalized sketch posted a couple days ago, as well as some colour work to show off that I've been poking at for the last couple of weeks.

It's been a bit of a struggle however.  I'm currently sick.

I try not to go into health things on here as that's not what this platform is supposed to be for, however, as this is impacting my work I thought I should shed light on at least generally what is going on with me.

I've had a severe relapse of my GAD ...

Eden.

An image of Eden, waking up and wandering for a coffee in the kitchen.  I'm still figuring out the background, so I just boxed a few things in to block things in.

I'm not used to feline faces, but she seems to look meow enough.

Hanno.

It's a little hard to feel good about doing art lately, but I pushed through it and sketched out Hanno, a Sentinel from Javiiskarra near the forests leading to the Husk of the Mother still towers, the blackened tree a reminder of past sorrows.

Still have a bunch of things to tweak, but wolf.

Big neigh, small neigh.

I'm going to be trying a different style of painting once I get the current commission closer to completion.  I wanted to do something very quick, without a ton of detail and that had a bit of an 'animated' feel to it.

I've had this vision of a Lathraedi petting a Reix on the nose and him just melting in happy.  I don't know who they are specifically, but it was something kind and that I could quickly sketch out and draw since it's not the most visually intricate piece.

Mass.

It's the anniversary of my father passing away, and I was reflecting on a lot of what happened over the last year.  Life looks very different than it did back then.

It got me thinking about things I've been putting off for ages.  Some out of necessity, others out of an illogical fear.  I don't tend to make resolutions just for New Years, but this resolution happened to coincide with the day and I'm now determined to work on writing out the world that I base a lot of my im...

Gift.

One of a couple commission pieces I was working on over the last couple of months is finally completed and I was given kind permission to share it here.

It's one of those pictures I'm biased towards, because.. Well.. Wolves!  But also an image featuring family.  I guess the thought of family has been pretty forefront in my thoughts lately, and this image was steeped in it.

It also let me try and experiment with rounded buildings again.  I tend to draw 'medieva...

Crismsas

With the year winding towards a close I had a couple days to actually sit still and process just what a blur it really was.

Usually by this time of the year I'm burnt out on it's mere existence and I'm ready to hit the metaphorical reset button on the whole thing.  I start sending bribes to the new year in hopes that it won't lose it's mind completely and be a raging cyclone of misery that it's predecessor was.

But this time around I feel oddly renewed.  Like a reset but...

Home

It's done.

The sale of my previous place has cleared.  I'm home.  I'm finally no longer in the limbo between places.  Owner of none, but keeper of two.

I'm home.

My cozy space.  Apartment, with fireplace.  I hope my old home's soul is kept and pervades the new homes going up in it's place.  The house earned it's rest.  It held out long enough, and finally can be renewed.  While I will miss much of that place, I'm finally no longer tied...

Coming Home

Pan, the pony performer (I promise I'm not trying to make that sentence sound like a nursery rhyme) coming home after a travelling tour with her troupe.  The door not even closed, and the clothing is getting shucked and a bath drawn.

I guess the 'home' theme is running hard in my mind for pretty obvious reasons.  The more things I get unpacked and set out, the more personality the place starts to take on.  But I do like walking home in the earlier twilight evenings, looki...

Living in the new age.

This is my inaugural post from the new place.

I hadn't hoped to be offline for nearly a full week, but due to a clerical error (and an employee strike) my ISP didn't get me hooked up on the move-in day.  But I've finally got internet back now at least.  Thankfully I had a cell-phone and dear friends from keeping me going bonkers without anything to watch during the last week.

But the first phase is done.  If Friday goes okay, it means the move is complete.

2 - Two - 2wo

In a couple of days I'll be doing the hot-plate scramble of finally moving into the new place.  I've planned that I'll be out of contact for at least a couple days, even if the internet hookup is supposed to take place on that day.  Always plan that it might take a couple days.

I'm looking forward to not living like a squatter.  My current place is so bereft of items that voices echo.  Smokey, one of my cats, actually did his nightly yowling then ran in to the bedroo...

Trickses and Treatses

When I decided to try and do a kick-flip off of my front stairs and failed to stick the landing (the gophers all held up 4.5 or 5.5 signs) I wasn't able to effectively work on hauling furniture around or even walking all that effectively.

Being forced to sit around for a couple days meant that I could start finishing the cleaned up sketch of an image I had started way back at the very end of September.  It also meant I could work on an alternate image for a client.  I was in a...

Deep breath, and a sigh 'Okay..'

This house, now stripped of all of it's baubles and dusty icons seems ready to slowly let itself perish.  The furnace, which was already humming it's way to the end for most of the last couple of months, has finally died.

Sadly, this is three weeks and a day before I move.  I had two companies take a look at it, inspect it, and the prognosis is that the heat exchangers are all cracked and legally there isn't a gasfitter who would touch it without getting those replaced first.<...

October Oofing Festival

Just a post to send a ping that I'm indeed, still alive.  But I've been consumed by the gluttonous moving-monster.

As it seems with all months lately, October is already half over.  The trees in these parts are getting to that 'bare and spooky' look which is fitting for the month already.

I've only had a few moments to get out and take pictures of some areas.  I usually do this for 'tree ideas' and inspiration about places I find 'cozy'.  Like the little picket...

The Wander Home

Finally I had a solid couple of days to do literally anything but pack.

I guess that's not entirely true, I did get to go to a couple of the Oktoberfest celebrations going on in the city which was phenomenal.  It was a night to just not have to worry about putting my life into boxes and sign waivers/contracts.  The beer was very good.  Erdinger this time around, though I did get some Paulaner as well.  We have a local brewery that sells Fahr beer which has exploded o...

Fest

It has been an.. eventful couple of weeks to put it mildly.

As I last noted, I had accepted an offer to sell the house, which still surprises me how fast it happened.  I've since gone to take a look at places and gone into deep research mode to figure out a place that would suit what I want.  There were five different zones of the city I was considering, then condensed down to two.

After the showings, one of those places kept sticking with me.  I don't put much weig...

Rather Lovely People in Hats - revised

A quick update to the People in Hats image.  I wanted to add a little more visual interest in the midground area.  Plus, I finally gave Berrand his hat (A rather dashing swashbuckler chapeau) and Holly a field-worker's hat.

I'll be starting colours on this in between commissions, as always.  Time is a crunch with the move, of course.  I've got so much STUFF.  I didn't realize how much I had accumulated while here.  Much of it will be going in the bin, the r...

Gift! - Inkwash version

The intrepid wolf-family on a warm late-summer/early-august evening.  A still in process commission that I'm slowly plugging away at (One of two, actually!) as I split my days between packing up the house, sifting through what I'm going to keep and what is going to go to Goodwill/recycling/the landfill, and, soon, showings of places to live.

When I get a chance to, I'm going to look into 'yearly subscriptions' that have been suggested to me a few times.  It would be a way for ...

Well... THAT escalated quickly.

This morning my house officially went up for sale.  Within 2 hours there were four offers and one was for a fair bit more than asking price.

So, the agreement was signed.  I've been given a generous 3 months to find another place and clear this one, with a flexible final date.

Today was a wild one.  I figured I would have a couple months and maybe a trickle of people looking to buy.  Even the realtor was pretty shocked at how quick it was.

Spreading too little butter over cement

The last week has been a ride.

I have lost a week of full productivity, but the cause is worth it.  I've met with a really solid realtor, had measurements done of the place, and photos taken.  In the next couple days a sign will go up.

I admit, I wasn't ready for how fast it could go.  I definitely wasn't ready to look at a room that I've taken all pictures down from, and stripped of it's familial identity and feel so utterly crushed by it.  Bit by bit, I'm say...

I had this sketch bouncing around in my head for a while.  This is the 'second pass' sketch, cleaned up enough to not be scribbles.

Cinders, a pony-reixa friend, Berrand and Holly welcoming the first arrivals to the club meeting.  Ellythistle, Raudhan, and her stallion frand (I never remember the poor guy's name).  They come bearing a gift of pumpkin, because there needs to be more pumpkins.  Always more pumpkins.

I'm still deciding on what sort of hat Berrand ...

One of the trees on my daily walk who's getting an early start for winter's sleep.  If there's anything I will miss about living in the area that I do, it's the canopy of old trees, like friends that grew with you.

Right now there's a Cinders in my head running in circles making 'eeee' sounds as leaves quietly fall around her from this tree.

I imagine that Cinders actually celebrates the 'first leaf/leaves' of fall in her lands later on in her life.  Literally kno...
