Round and Round.

I'm really not loving the fact that I have to write another 'Bad News Bears' post after finally getting some creative juice going again this month.
The short of it: I'm going to be late starting the next patron sketch this month.
On Saturday morning I came down stairs to find my father on the kitchen floor. He was conscious but unable to get up under his own power because he was feeling weak. I had to call 911 after checking to see if he hit his head on the way down, and he was taken to the hospital.
I won't go into all the details, but will note that he's going to have an extended stay there for at least the rest of the week since they found a couple critical issues they need to correct and then closely monitor. He's awake, and perked up a bit after 5 (!!) units of blood, but is going to be in rough shape for a bit.
That said, my days are a bit of a flurry of cancelling appointments, DATS rides, and taking doctor's calls as things progress. I've learned about a dozen new medical terms, and learned how hard nurses work (and the local government is cutting their pay by 3% here. Gotta love that kind of asinine logic). Afternoons are planned on visiting him to catch up as well as just remind him that we all have his back, love him, and want him to come home soon.
But it also means I just don't have enough hours in the day to start the next patron sketch at the end of the month. Especially with his health still being this tentative, so I'm going to have to push it back at least a week. It also doesn't serve the artwork well when I'm fairly creatively drained by all of this.
It's only been a couple days since it happened, but literally feels like it's been a week already.
I'm sorry to all of you that I'm falling behind again. I hope to make this up when things improve, but right now my laser focus is my father's health.

A friend of the family is a nurse and was amazed he was still conscious. By the end of his stay I think they put up to 8 units through him to stabilize his numbers. He's doing better now, even if he's in the 'won't be out of the woods again' part of his life, he at least has energy and can get around on his own volition again. It was a wild ride for him o.o

2021-08-12 17:24:57 +0000 UTC5 units! That's... a lot o.o I think everyone understands, but I'll throw my piece in too... I'm wishing you some comfort in a real bad time. You're doing exactly what you need to be doing.

2021-07-26 15:19:41 +0000 UTCThat is exactly where your laser focus should be. By all means, take care of your father, and don't forget to take care of you, too. Hang in there!
2021-07-26 14:11:18 +0000 UTCYikes, serious business. I have some idea of what you are going through, went through very similar circumstances with my mom a few years ago. It's extra tough taking care of those who once took care of you.
