Hemoglobe-trotting

There's a certain cold feeling that goes through you when you ask a parent who, normally, is pretty stoic and tough if they're okay, and you are met with a head-shake, and an exhausted few breaths.

My father had to go to the ER on Friday night. I won't go into all of the details, but his hemoglobin hit a level where he was dizzy, barely able to stay conscious and needed to go in and get a few units of premium red put in him.

It has been a hell of a busy and roller-coaster weekend, to put it lightly.

He's home again, and feeling better. He runs out of breath easily when moving around but his levels are at least at a point where he can go for his iron infusions.

The next week or two are going to be immensely busy. He has two major issues that need to be done at by two different specialists and two different hospitals, and then some follow ups after that. I'm now on full care-giver duty because of his issues.

Normally I don't like bringing things like this up on any social media, especially not a place that's given purpose is to bring art and creative writing, but since his schedule is going to affect mine in the coming month I wanted to let folks know here about a couple changes I need to do for the next couple of weeks at least.

First up is the next sketch is going to be pushed back to the last week of this month. Simply due to time, and not knowing what the follow up appointments for my father will entail just yet. Some can last up to 3 hours and I'm on call to make sure I can get him home and settled after that.

Second is that while I'm sure I can get at least a coloured illustration out this month, as I'll be waiting for appointments to end, I don't know how many new rough concepts I can get out just yet. It could be a bunch, It could be only two. Its all a bit up in the air.

I do want to apologize for having to detour like this so much in the month, but family health is the first and foremost. I've seen how bad things can get at least, so I know the steps to go through when they do. The ambulance techs in this city aren't paid anywhere near the wage the should be for how good they are.

I'm hoping to know more about the upcoming follow-up schedule after this week, and should be able to give more info about what I can get done.

Thanks all,

-T.J.

Take care of that which must be cared for. We will wait.

Family first. Thinking good thoughts for you and your pop. Stay safe my friend.

You've got a lot on your shoulders right now. Take care of your family then take care of yourself. We're just pixels on a screen at this point and we'll still be here when you come back.

By all means, take care of your father, and take care of you. Wishing you both the best, as ever.

All good man, should go without saying that family is first. I just hope your dad gets some good answers, and returns to health sooner than later. Be safe, yourself as well!
