Blur of green and gold.

"What was that?"
"That was September, mate."
"Oh, that was quick, do I get another one?"
"Sorry mate, no."
"...Back to the land of dreams."
Honestly, that blurb from Fawlty Towers is fitting. I remember distinctly asking where August had gone in what feels like only a few days ago. But here we sit, on the cusp of October, the gold still raining from the trees, the branches looking like skeletal dark fingers reaching skyward.
I still have about four fall related pictures I'd like to get out before the month of Spook is done with. Though I'm sure October will be gone on next Tuesday, because it sure feels like 2020 is rampaging past like a drunken clydesdale.
It hasn't been a great year for anyone. Its been one of the craziest period of time I have seen in my life, and I lived through the Flock of Seagulls haircut era. I've watched so many good people get side-swiped by everything. The world caught on fire, battled by brave folks on the ground and in the air, cities have had to shut down.. Just.. a wild, wild ride.
I can only hope that somewhere in the writhing, screaming fold of 2021 a little flicker of light can be seen. That constant hope for something better on the horizon. I've been trying to live in my head as much as I can until that time. Reality is far more unintuitive and hard to follow than the adventures of hooved and feathered creatures in my Jim Henson's workshop head-canon.
On the work front, I'm still plugging along. The painting has had another pass (and probably has 2 more to go), I have this month's patron sketch loosely under way. I have three new patrons (Hello!) to do sketches for starting in October, and the second-time list will continue after that.
I'm only about a third of the way through writing on the comic featuring Cinders and all of the cohorts in the group she was in. Writing has been slow since I rely on another person to help and meetings have been few and far between due to the Pandemic. But it is progressing.
I found a bunch of old thumbnails I'd like to get done as proper concepts as well, if I can find more time in the day. Everything from a knight and their reixos-warhorse, to a brother and sister duo who could see ghosts (and either help them or thwart them). I guess it pays to rummage old sketchbooks to find ideas I completely forgot about.
Next month will see more Cinders. Its spook-month after all. Plus I might draw some undead things wandering their apocalyptical landscapes just to see if I can remember what bones are attached to what.
To all of you: thank you. The patronage has helped immensely (kitty bills fully taken care of, in fact, due to having funds set aside for it). I hope the upcoming art is worthy. Until then, stay warm, stay safe, drink chai tea (or any beverage you like).

I am hoping for a calmer smoother 2021 myself.

2020-09-28 23:41:00 +0000 UTCSpeaking of old art, I wish there were an archive of your old stuff. Do you ever consider drawing with traditional media again? I love woofs and neighs, but your old coloured pencil drawing of that bat girl in the rain is still one of my all time favourite pics ever.
2020-09-28 23:34:22 +0000 UTCIt’s always a pleasure to read your posts and see your work. I like how conscientious you are regarding your work and your outlook. :)
