I was struck with a pretty severe creative block in the middle of sketching out last month's patron sketch. It was bad enough that there was a delay of at least a couple weeks at least, and even personal projects (outside the mapping) were just not coming out looking even half-way decent at all.
I was shown a lot of patience with this one, for which I'm eternally grateful. It took some re-working and basically literally re-learning some fundamentals of doing artwork again. (I still am, drawing one thing over and over, because my brain doesn't work right).
The idea for this one was a warrior coming home (or to a fancy inn of sorts), shedding gear and plundered loots and saying hello to her partner again for the first time. The idea that the home-life can be just as interesting as running around putting your sword to things with big nasty teeth.
I was allowed to post the half-resolution version here with kind permission of the patron in question.
I'm slowly starting to be able to 'recognize shapes' again, and hopefully with a bit more time I can get some extra sketches done that I have sitting around in half-finished states. Its been a weird year so far. The skills gave out just as a heat-wave hit here, which means practice is sporadic at best since the multitude of fans I have just aren't cutting it.
Hoping you are all safe, and weathering the.. well, weather, or whatever 2020 has in store for you. I realize that the year is a write-off for nearly everyone on the planet. Stay sane as best you can.
