An image for February's patron on the sketch-list, a badger named Hezz. This will actually be the first time I'd ever drawn a badger, and was given free reign to add markings that interplay with their already distinctive markings. (Lord knows, I like drawing tribal tattoos on everything).
The idea was largely a 'connection' with nature, through a primal bond-perhaps, or just being able to sense the instinctive minds of other creatures. The speech of birds would be utterly alien, even if put into our language, but there are those who can understand the instinctual on a deeper level, perhaps.
The raw sketch of this image features a rather hilarious amount of tables. I couldn't get the stones in the background to look like they were on the right plane of perspective in the distance, so I did the next best thing: Stacked a bunch of 3D tables in the background to arrange as a small circle of ruined stones showing the cycles of the moon.
I had a lot of fun working on this one. I always do with this kind of genre, and I'm a pushover for nature images. Many thanks to Hezz for letting me share this here too.
Next Patron sketch on the list will be picked in 2 weeks. I think there's one more new person left, then I'll be delving back into the second go on the list again. Thank you all for staying on this mad, mad ride.
