The Visit - Rough Sketchwork

Another one of those images where I went a bit overboard on how ambitious it was. I sometimes get ideas that form quickly and desperately need to get down in some form, which is why a lot of my sketchwork is ridiculously rough and scribbly.

This time around I had to use some 3d models to get a sense of size when it comes to things that were going to be in the background opposed to characters in the foreground. Cinders standing only 5'1" tall sometimes makes it hard to figure out just by trial just how tall she'd be next to other characters, especially the taller ones.

The picture itself is of Ajaatu (Keelahi's husband) visiting Cinders in her grove, a planar expanse dominated by a massive oak that serves as her family's home and 'tower', inspired by Celtic oak iconography. The entry built directly and partially 'absorbed' by the tree.

Always the good host, She brings her visiting friends a bowl of iced blueberry or melon juices, a platter of things to gnaw, and her company.

I'm sure at some point I'll go completely mad and attempt to finish and colour this image. I'm already a bit baffled as to where I'd begin with it, but I like the pair, and hell, its an excuse to draw more wolves, and Cinders and trees. :)

So much to love about this art. The characters and trees no doubt. So much detail and intricacies. I really love the bowl and how it's not a cup. Too many artists over look small details like that. You're amazing!

Cinders has an immunity to the effects of natural cold and heat due to her bloodline. She can tell if a day is freezing or boiling, but doesn't suffer effects like heat-stroke or frostbite (Magically induced freezing and heat, of course, affect her like anyone else). And the wild-wolf folk just tend to rely on their heavy coats for protection from the elements, though they will just hide out in their dens when its severely freezing outside.

I just can't wait for the warmer weather that will let me drink cold drinks after a day out in the sun :)

As beautiful as these scenes are, it's kind of amusing to think "We live on an Arctic continent but we're all just going to run around naked anyway."

Two gentle souls. I like the concept of the merged home and tree, and the thought of blueberry and melon juice sounds delightfully refreshing!

Perfesser Bear

This is an amazing scene and I very much hope you will find the time to finish it off! You breathe so much life into your world.

It’s lovely! Coloring this would be straight-up magical
