I Don't Know About This (sketch)

I finally figured out the next full colour image I wanted to do after finally breaking through a week long creative block of just firing through tons of sketches and trying to kickstart the wheezing hamster in my head.

This one is a little self-serving.  Its a character I'm starting up in a friend's D&D game, a Khettish Mage who quickly realized after departing the boat to the large port city that he's not in Kansas anymore.  The culture shock of walking into the bay-side pub and seeing a motley gathering of every kind of person imaginable was almost enough for him to tell his wanderlust to sod off and head right back to the boat he arrived on.

I've had designs on a vulpine-race for Felwroth for a while now, and I was utterly spinning my wheels on what to call them for the longest time, until the friend/DM just looked up the word 'fox' in other languages, found the Finnish 'Kettu' and thus the Khettu/Khettish people were born.

Looking back on this image, its clear that I hate myself in some deep and perverse way, the amount of odds and ends and people and lighting nightmares I can see this having is already enough to make me want to curl up under my desk and weep, though I do that weekly anyway, so this would only serve as an excuse.

Honestly part of me is a little excited to see what rendering a full indoor scene would be like.  Mid evening lighting outside, firelight and shadows inside.   I have a few tweaks to get done after I get the patron sketch finished up, then will have the clean-lines to do before I start laying in local colours (and weeping) and then doing an inkwash pass (and weeping.)

It'll be my luck that the little guy will fall to the first goblin that crits him, thus making this the only known image of him ;)

I'm a little late on this, but I cannot wait to see what this turns into. :D

A little bit of <i>"I should have thought this through"</i> and a whole lot of <i>"What the helmet have I got myself into."</i> Been there, Foxy dude, done that.

The best way to drink a Happy Bastard (tm) is in the gutter with the heavens bending above you.
