Behold, The Fluttering (Nudity)

I had a lot of fun with the colour portion of this.  I wanted to try and figure out a nice 'very early sunset' look for this.  Just before the sun turns that gold on the horizon, where there is a very slight 'pink' tint to the sky.

I rummaged a bunch of reference for figuring out how the sky colours and overall colours would look.  My photo-library is getting to the point where I'll need to back it up again I think.

The pair featured, Cinders and Lyssiah, have been friends for years.  Their families met up while retired from the rigors of travel and quest.  Lyssiah was pulled from death's door by her now husband Jaiya, and decided it was time to settle down as alpha to her people.  She still maintains the strength of a hunter, despite not going out to get into trouble beyond a deer hunt.  She makes it a point to travel with her family to spend the harvest with Cinders' herd, taking in the celebrations of a largely agrarian people.

In turn, Cinders and her clan will make their way to Lyssiah's homelands in the following spring, when things are awakening from long slumbers, to witness the 'howling packmeet' between a great many of the Khavijas tribes of the southern Aegencald.

I'd like to draw more of their families in the future.  There's a whole story there that might be interesting to explore.

Thankya kindly! There's a large amount of backstory between both families. The heads of both are retired 'adventurer' types turned immortal (lesser gods/saints in Berrand and Cinders' cases) able to just enjoy life now. They even vacation together on the tropical isles of Qiuloa every year or so. I've always loved that brief span of autumn where there is still green here and there, but much has turned to gold, and just before everything falls to the ground. Nights hover close to the frost point, crops are all brought in and fires are lit in hearths at night. Though I also love the mid to late October season here, as trees are nearly bare, and branches reach into a slate backdrop like crooked, charred skeletal fingers. It brings a hint of 'spook' and the feeling that getting home also brings a sense of safety with it. Over the next year or so, I think I'll draw out a few more scenes from these two families. While the world has a lot of characters I'd like to explore, its always been fairly dominated by Cinders and all the folks she knows. I guess she's the constant muse, though I'm not complaining :)

Indeed it should be! The backstory is great and has a lot of potential for development. I love the reciprocal nature of their friendships. You really captured their bond and friendship here, imo. What really struck me first about this picture was their expressions and how much you put into their bodies. Each one has their own story to tell and it can be seen in the way they hold themselves and the accents they wear. What really caught my attention was the detail in the background. It just felt like a late autumn day when the days are colder but not quite ready for heavy coats. Its that last minute invigorating chill that reminds people to get everything done. And here are two women that did and have the free tome to enjoy the end of the year. The smoke from the chimney promises warmth for the night and the months to come. I also love the touch of magic from the butterfly. Too many people think, or at least they use to, that magic doesn't exist in winter and snow, when really, its just a different kind of magic, a different kind of energy. They just have to be open to enjoy it's potential. Amazing how you captured their friendship.
