I often do warm-up sketches when starting work on projects and they're often wildly un-connected to the work I'm doing to let my brain get used to doing linework again (In this case, it was a warm-up sketch before the Patron sketch for this month).
I try to keep things simple. I don't think I'm great at 'cute' or 'cartoony' but its more serving to let me get into that 'art' space I tend to lose overnight. This one was cute enough for me to throw a very simple flat colour on and share though.
Some News
My current day-job will be ending. The original plan was to start looking for work again right away to fill in that financial gap. However I've realized I'm in a pretty okay place with my current situation. So I'm going to take a couple months to instead do artwork on a more full-time basis.
This will mean that there is an up-tick in things I post here. But it also means I should be able to start taking on commissions again. I'll find myself with about twenty extra hours a week (I still will be working as a caretaker).
This is a bit of a nervous step for me. While I'm not suddenly hurtling into destitution or anything (I'll be okay, honest!) its a step that means I'm not getting that 'paycheck' every couple weeks. A strange severing of the safety net, which means I'll have to make any extra money on my own. At least for a few months to test out how I manage in getting things done each day.
Any commissions I take will first be taken from folks on Patreon. You all have priority in that regard. The reward tier discount applies as well. The monthly sketch will remain free as a thank you to the folks at the top tier (though I'm very grateful to all tiers, I sadly don't have enough arms to do sketches for everyone).
Friday will be my first official day doing 'Just art' in the mornings. I'm a bit excited. Scared to death. but its something I'd like to try. Job hunting is a miserable venture in these parts. And I'd rather look forward to work-days.
Thanks to all of you. Truly. Past and present. I hope the upcoming bits of eldritch scratching will be worth your generosity.
