Job Hunt, Things from, and the Mystery Onion.

Its sad when March takes me by surprise.  For whatever reason I still thought there were a couple days left in February.

March is a bit bitter-sweet for me.  I'm bidding farewell to a job that wasn't too bad considering what it entailed, and am back on the hunt for another.  In one way this actually frees up a little bit of time, at least temporarily, the down side is that I need to force myself to leave the house/studio space now that I won't have somewhere to be.  And the extra income was indeed a nice thing.

I'll be taking a week, after the last day, to just get a bit caught up.  I act as a caretaker as well for my father these days, which means a lot of his 'house things' that need to be done that he's unable to do.  Gearing up for clearing the place out of decades of junk in the spring (already??).  I'd also like to do a bit more personal art, if I can get my brain out of the winter-funk it's been in for the last while.

Speaking of art, I might send out a note for this month's patron sketch early.  Last month's was easy (but I was asked not to post, which is absolutely fine) and I was able to do it in a few days time.  I'll alert people to check e-mail when I do send the notice out.  Could be the first month where I do two sketches if all goes well.

I've also been reading through 'Things from the Flood' by Simon Stålenhag and am floored by how good the artwork and concept of his world is.  I also liked the format he chose to use to tell the story, and might do a few images like that for Patreon.  I have a running theme in my head about a world (not sure if it would be Felwroth based) and someone's perception of it.  It'll take a bit of sketching to see if I can even accomplish some of the pictures I have in mind.

The good news is that this month's painting won't be of snow.  Promise.

One of my cats found an onion yesterday.  A mystery onion.  As far as I remember, I didn't have any loose onions in the place, but leave it to a cat to find one and roll it around the floor.

Its only when it tried to bite it did the onion turn into the 'Worst thing in the world PLEASE DESTROY IT MR. FOOD UNIT!!'.

I still wonder where it came from.

If its from last year.. I really need to clean this place better.

She had it on the floor doing the rabbit-kicks to it, and gave a light chomp. It was a mix of 'What... have I done??' and "THE WORLD IS ENDING NOW". She actually side-danced away from it and sat around the corner from it. Suddenly the mystery onion wasn't the best toy in the universe.

Fair warning: onion is toxic to cats if they're determined that they must eat it. I would've loved to see the cat's reaction to biting it though.

Thing is that it didn't seem like an old onion. I.. think my cat is doing its own shopping now.
