December.
Added 2016-12-01 20:29:16 +0000 UTCHard to believe it's already December! It felt like it was just last week that I was all giddy that the leaves were turning. Now there's a light dusting of snow over everything, which I admit is charming (until I shovel it) and gives everything a 'Swiss Alps' feeling.
The path for December will likely feature a lot of fantasy styled artwork. I've been lucky enough to get to play in a game of D&D lately and I've been wanting to draw a lot of adventurer types and general fantasy life pictures. They'll still feature a good deal of critters and probably a good deal of mini-dragons (Kobolds) as well.
I've also had a hankering to try and do decent pictures featuring snow or winterscapes. Lighting and colour is much different than the bright colours I've been using, and there's a sense of isolation that I like. I've been pouring through some Simon Stalenhag pictures which made me want to even try to sketch out some of the 'floating skiffs' that Felwroth features. Nothing as technological as his work, but fantasy skiffs are a thing on the world.
I'm planning, as usual, for a full painting this month as well as a series of sketches. Much of it will be warm up sketches as I'm getting used to drawing snowscapes again, and want to try drawing out some 'monsters' that are frequent in fantasy.
I also wanted to try doing 'then and now' pictures. Doing artwork based on some of my older work, but updated to a larger and higer resoluition. Much of the art I've done in the past was done at lower res and was downright tiny by today's standards. I've also learned a lot since those days.
I do promise not to simply do a ton of re-hashed pictures, but I'd like to try one or two just to see where I'm at :)
Thank you, all of you. You have made this year one that had me exploring new things, and have even helped me take some art courses online to try and get a bit better at the craft. I would give you each a pie if that were possible.
Now to break out the shovel. Snow awaits.

He is! I've been bolstering the defence of the entire house. He won't be hitting me with any more coal. Not this year!
