Gorge Valley - Update 0.0.2.7: Open House

(THIS IS THE $6-TIER RELEASE BUILD! AS SUCH, IT MAY BE SLIGHTLY UNSTABLE, BUT BUG FIXES HAVE BEEN ROLLED OUT FOR MOST REPORTED ISSUES.)

(Had some reported bugs that have been fixed! 0.0.2.7 is now the current version!)

Without further ado: THE LINK!

If you just wanna sink your teeth into the new update, that's all you need! The rest if just an explanation of everything that's new.

Also, obviously, THE GAME NOW HAS A NAME! While "Cow Village" certainly was charming as a testing name, it's time the project got a proper title. So here it is! Welcome to "Gorge Valley"! A valley within a gorge! That's why it's called that! No other reason or ulterior motive!

0.0.2.0 Patchnotes:
-New NPC added: June the druid.
-New Placeable Items added: Workstation, Well, Chest, and Crop Plot.
-New system: Dryad Farming. Take care of their needs and water them!
-Flowers added!
-Added a "mass sell" and "mass move" function to the inventory. Just hold shift!
-Added resources like wood, stone, and metal.
-Terrain such as bushes can now be destroyed.
-Fixed lighting bugs that triggered from loading a new game.
-Fixed bug where game would be corrupted if you tried loading a game with no save.
-Fixed several small inventory bugs.
-Edge borders of a given level are now more stable.
-Fixed audio glitches with rolling Mocha.

0.0.2.5 Patchnotes:
-Added a new size to Dryads! They can now be made ROUND!
-Expanded on the building system.
-Craftable wooden tables and chairs have been added, as well as lanterns and (currently) uncraftable candles.
-Sky's house is now accessible!
-Fixed inventory crash glitch.
-Fixed a bug that made the game crash when handing out potions.
-Fixed some small lighting issues.
-Fixed a bug where Mocha thought she was a plant.

0.0.2.6 Patchnotes:
-Added item boundaries to Sky's house to prevent losing items.
-Fixed an error with footsteps for larger sized gals.

0.0.2.7 Patchnotes:
-Sky can now jump on furniture.
-You can now place more things on tables.
-Fixed a loading error.
-Fixed a problem with opening multiple dialogue windows over each other if you tried to interact with June in front of a dryad.

Run into a bit of a bug. When I'm given the option to discipline a dryad, after the minigame, walking to the left breaks the parallax. The background moves as if I'm walking, but the foreground stops right before the barn.

I love the new update! I just hit a bit of a weird bug that pushed back my progress a bit tho. After I turned June into a cow, I went to water a dryad while she walked in front of it, and my right click activated both her trading screen and the dryad, so I couldn't exit the watering minigame and got an error that I had to abort out of. Oh well, that's what we get for fanging to play early builds ':D Hope this at least helps for future releases!

When you start a new game, there will be a workstation and chest by the barn. The chest has everything you'll need to make items :)

How do I gain access to the work station and get the garden plots?

Flirting and giving them gifts are different options depending on how they're feeling. If they're sad, you give them flowers. If they're misbehaved, you discipline. And if they're feeling flirty, you flirt. You don't have to do all three before watering them :)

How do I flirt with/give gifts to the dryads? Once they're disciplined all I can do is make them drink water.

sure did :] - as for the use of game maker engine don’t sweat it, I don’t think anyone’s going to be using unity anymore after some certain, business decisions…. also engine elitists can suck an egg anyways, though I’ve never used game maker myself, maybe I can give it a try when I give godot a go.

If you plug in a new audio device when launching the game, it won't switch to it unless you restart the game. Try restarting with your headphones plugged in and see if that works!

Thank you! I program in the GML language with Gamemaker Studio 2! I know that Gamemaker used to be kind of a laughingstock of an engine, but ever since the latest release, it's actually got some merit for use in certain projects now, and I've been enjoying using it a lot. The only other program I used to use was Unity, and overall, Gamemaker feels much cleaner and more simple to maintain a project in than Unity ever did. Thank you for the kind words, mate! Hope this answered some of your questions :P

Woops! These are some spaghetti code issues on my part! I've added boundaries to inside the house to keep items from being lost! I also fixed the rolling issue (Thank you for the error code, Lurkinlad!) The only thing I'm not sure how to recreate is the barn issue. I've added some scripts to hopefully fix that problem, but I won't know for sure if it's fixed until I'm able to replicate the bug myself. Rolling out the updated download right now!

This game is amazing overall but the only thing is there's a inventory error code problem that pops every 20 mins so I got to save every 8 minutes before it happens

The new update is pretty neat! The crafting system seems to work well from what I've been able to do with it, and the addition of r o u n d Dryads is cute. Other than the few bugs I'll list below, the game is working great so far! *First, when I entered Sky's house and tried placing down a table, I think I accidentally dragged it out of the inventory and it ended up floating like an item you could pick up in the exit doorway. I couldn't pick it up for some reason, and when I leave and re-enter the house, it was still floating there. *After that, when I tried walking over to the left past the barn, the background kept moving but the foreground was stuck and it wouldn't let me move any farther towards the left, like some sort of invisible wall was there. **Leaving and re-entering the game seemed to fix both of these issues, and I'm not sure if I could recreate the problem. *The last thing, though I'm unsure if it's related to the first two problems, is that once the girls get immobile, whenever I try to move them I get an error pop-up and can only abort the game. I tried moving them a few times to see if it was a one-time thing, but I get the same error window every time I try. I don't know if anyone else has experienced these sort of issues or if it's just me though, so take this with a grain of salt!

!!! been loving the progress on this game so far, and the pixel art suits so well, but I can't help but nerd out about everything game design related and would love to have a little insight into how you did somethings, like is this with code or stuff like blueprints? or hell just knowing the engine its done in too I've done quite a bit of coding stuff and really enjoy it for games, haven't been able to do much of any game projects since starting work, but woe is me, thats life the world needs more wg games and you're doing your part lol
