This is the sketch I did for last month's $10 tier patron.  I don't usually get asked much for sci-fi so it was a bit of a learning experience for me, and as usual I had to stop myself before getting far too fiddly with the background since these sketches are supposed to be a little on the simplified side.

The character is Jake "Cordite" Rodriguez, and had a helluva interesting background story attached to him.  I went with a bit of Colonial marines meets Deadspace meets slightly tribal for this, hence the light he's holding having that slightly retro feel to it.  He's responsible for keeping the ship from tearing itself apart (and from repair drones from tearing it apart).

Was a fun sketch to do.  Sci-fi requires so many different angles and at times is scarily large as a universal genre.

As with the other art, links will be going out shortly.  There won't be a 300dpi version since this was done as a sketch for someone else, but the 150/96dpi will be going out.

A few updates.

I've been a bit slow to get art actually published in the last couple of weeks.  There are a few things close to being finished, and will be posted shortly as well.  next up will be the next page of the comic, followed by picking the next patron to do this month's sketch for on the 15th.

The main reason for the slowdown is dealing with medical issues, though I won't go into it too deeply.  I've had to take a few days off of the cycle to try and mend a really bad back that's been plaguing me for a while.  This meant I had to re-arrange my entire work-space (slowly and carefully) which I'm hoping won't be as harsh on my back/shoulder.  However it's bad enough that I'm seeking medical treatment for it.

That being said I can work in shifts now.  Which spreads out the work a bit, and doesn't allow for me to sit with my face plastered against a tablet for 8 to 10 hours straight.

And for the folks who follow me on Twitter, I've decided to step away from social media in general for a while.  I still can be contacted through there if need be, and will see those messages/@shouts but It was having a deeply detrimental effect on both my work and my general state of mind, so for the meantime I'm going to be silent on there save the odd 'art update' that I might post.  I wish I could keep up with folks there but it's a veritable wall of 'bad' lately that I need to avoid.

I will still post works to galleries and Patreon as normal, and can be reached via messages or e-mail if folks are inclined.

That about does it for now.  Finishing final inks on the next Tides page and should have it posted within the next few days with any luck!

Have a great weekend,

-T.J.
