Added 2016-02-12 02:37:34 +0000 UTCI'll be trying to share more works in progress with folks in the coming weeks. I'm still working on the painting for this month, and will be notifying the next person in line for a sketch this month as well on the 15th.
The picture itself is just a rough concept I've been doing for 'things around Felwroth'. It will be cleaned up and probably given a basic colour treatment at some point in the future.
"The Colossus of the Lost Empire was an impressive golem created by the Indorillian order of Mages belonging to the Iron tower of Grenshall. When the war was reaching the Imperial city of Grenshall lady Lydvalla Calcantus ordered the city to be sunk into the sea to keep it and it's Bloodvault from being captured by the Amantiri forces. The Tower beset their colossus with the soul of a loyal protector and warrior, and adorned the great Iron Crown upon it's head before stationing him on the small, lonely island of Rourklund. He was to act as the last key-bearer in hopes that the Indorai would one day turn the tide of the war, and seek out the sunken Iron tower to unlock it and recover the Stone of the World kept within.
To this day the colossus is nearly forgotten. The Amantir sent centuries ago to try and claim the Iron Crown were crushed by the guardian, and subsequent raiders and explorers who came across the small island were either anihilated by the Colossus or fled to tell the tale of a great white and dark plated sentinal adorned with a rusting iron crown and massive greatsword. The Colossus has largely faded into myth now among modern day folks, as Rourklund Island is too far from any meaningful trade route, and carries a tenebrous and treacherous legacy.
