I'm never sure if folks want to see the really rough sketches of upcoming artwork, especially with how 'sketchy' my rough work tends to be. But I liked rough image enough to want to share it.
It features one of the Lorrnathi traditions known as the 'Ghosts Walk' that takes place in deep winter. One Reix (shapeshifter-esque Lorrnath) portrays the Pale King, one of the oldest of the Lorrnathi Gods, who was said to have walked from town to town where people would gather to speak the names of their lost loved ones, and hope the pale king would light their way home, or light their way to their rest if they had passed on.
It's both an honor, and an extremely difficult task. The Reix who take on the role are trusted to remember the names of the lost, to call to them, and to walk a lighted path so the dead can follow. Even in the worst weather, they walk, until they reach the varied shrines and sacred places where the departed might finally rest. It's a role where one hears the mourning and sorrow of many people.
I'm still trying to figure out where I'll be going with this picture. I'd like to actually paint it and finish it. Right now it's so rough that I'm still trying to figure out how everything will be depicted and fit in.
I'd also like to say that horses are still bloody difficult to draw!
A link will be sent out shortly where the full image can be downloaded, as usual.
Sketches, Commissions, etc
I'll be picking the next person to do a sketch for around mid-month. The list is growing shorter and shorter, which means I'll start all over again once everyone has had a sketch done.
I'm also going to be opening a slot or two for commissions near the end of the month. I've been sorely delayed over the last while, as life has been tossing a lot of curve-balls my way. The slots will be for a full colour image, 11" x 17" minimum size (unless a special request is made) and prices are roughly at the $100 mark for patrons in the $1 tier, $90 mark for folks in the $5 tier, and $85 range for folks in the $10 tier. These are just ballpark prices that will fluctuate depending on complexity of the piece and the amount of characters/things involved.
I'm going to post here when slots open up, and will try to have a way of tracking it online (still haven't figured that out yet).
