I wanted to show off a bit of the big project I was doing for the last several months for Author Paul Kidd of Kitsune Press. I was approached to do the cover and a portion of the interior illustration for a new tabletop RPG called 'Heroes of Morhost -fangs, fur, and fury'. One of the criteria is that it had a sort of 'old school realism' to it, based on 12th century Byzantine aesthetics and culture. I was pretty honored to get tapped to do so much art for the project, and Paul kindly allowed me to show off a sketch or two on Patreon as well. He's been absolutely amazing to work with.
I think in total I'll have about 13 or 14 images in the project, including the cover which is in full colour. This image in particular is the sketch leading up to the final grey-scaled final piece, thus I didn't shade much of it with inks as I'll do that with a final tonal pass. It features bees! Football sized bees! But they're friendly and sentient from the synopsis I was given.
So this is a bit of an exclusive peek at what I've been up to (and why I've been a bit scarce in a social sense). I believe the book is due to be out in December, so I'm feverishly working towards a looming deadline next month. If I'm a bit slow in answering queries or taking on new commissions, forgive me. This was a heck of a large project (The largest I've been a part of, actually). In the new year it'll mean I can take on new work though, offered here first!
