Hey all!
Just a heads up that the processing for Patreon is being a bit slow this week. I might move the weekly updates to Saturday or Sunday to give a little more time for payments to go through. I'll have this image out to everyone once everything processes, which is hopefully on the weekend!
This time around I've done a full painting of the 'Neighbors' picture. This was a fairly big challenge with the amount of leaf-shadows cast on Cinders herself. The first few times were tentative tries since it meant I had to draw all of these crazy shadows all over her, effectively 'ruining' the hi-lites I had done to achieve the effect. In the end I hope it worked out at least partially effectively.
The picture itself features a few Felwroth specific things. Namely the 'Dragonroot trees', rare trees that tap into veins of magic within the world (magic commonly referred to dragon-blood or 'blood of the revered lady'). The trees bare fruit that has a glowing center, taste a little of pineapple mixed with the slight tinge of something more spicy, and while lovely to look at, once cut open the core loses that glow over the course of a half hour.
Many folk-remedies and legends are attributed to the trees. From bringing great people back from the dead (Blood Saints) to being able to cure curses and ailments, though little of those claims have ever been followed up on.
I'm told the mouse in the picture is 'Mrs. Squeakerface', a new neighbor of Cinders on her planar part of the world. Creatures of all sorts tend to gain a certain sentience when in her realms, thus Mrs. Squeakerface made herself known before her temporary home was picked by a wandering Lorrnathi mare.
This picture marks the first in the series of 'Autumnal' pictures I'll be doing leading up to the end of October (or even November if the mood strikes me).
Thanks again, folks! More to come.
