December Update
Added 2021-12-23 15:34:47 +0000 UTCHey all, I'm back again to tell you where I'm at with Girl Games! First up, before we get into it, I'm gonna start off by saying that I'm pausing billing again this month - hopefully for the last time. But 10 days of Covid, plus a bunch of other work, meant that I didn't get as far with my work on the game as I'd have hoped, and as I still don't have anything new to show you all, I didn't feel it was fair to charge you this month. Which means that you can stay subscribed and come Jan 1st nothing will go out of your account.
And with that out of the way, let's move onto the good stuff. For a start I did do some really good work on the game, reworking and reimplementing a ton of stuff. I'm so much happier with the mechanics behind it all now. Save/load is all up and running again, the quest system is still working like a treat, so yeah, code-wise it's all getting there. The things I have left to do are:
1) rework the paperdoll system a little to make that just as robust as the rest - I know it wasn't always working properly before and I need to make sure that going forward it can just WORK without any bugs or glitches. I'm confident I can get this fixed really soon.
2) the grunt work of going through the current content scripts - basically all the existing 'cut scenes' that trigger each time a chunk of story happens and re-writing them as .json files with slightly differeng formatting and whatnot. This is easy, brainless but somewhat time-consuming work and will take maybe three to four days to get back to where I was before.
3) write some NEW content and add in a few more mechanics to make things a little less boring around campus - i.e. the Girl Games competition itself, four weeks of 'in class' content, maybe the gloryhole and art job side stories, and perhaps some more Amy content too ...
And now the truly exciting part (at least for me, lol). I've blocked out THE WHOLE OF JANUARY to get the above done. I'm going to be working full time on Girl Games for a whole damn month, which means that, acts of God permitting, I'm confident I can get all this done and out to share with you all real soon - hopefully before the end of Jan. Up until now I've been treating this like a part time nights-and-weekends project, but I figured if it was time to step things up a gear and go full throttle.
So yeah, that's where I'm at!
All that's left for me to say now is that I hope you all have an awesome holiday season and an amazing new year and I'll be back to share some goodies with you in 2022.
Until then,
Dana x

Thank you Patrick. And yes, I'm going to be putting my Amazon writing on hold for a month. It actually might help me recharge my batteries on that front too though, so I'm hoping it will ultimately be an all round benefit! X

2021-12-23 21:04:47 +0000 UTCI really look forward to this. Does that mean you're putting your regular writing on hold next month? I certainly wouldn't want to cost you that income from stories. Perhaps some of the new content might lend itself to publishing, like the classes or Amy stories, just to have something ready to go at the same time you're working on the game. Only you know the best way to work. Best of luck in this, I know how much it means to you.
