2020-12-25 04:11:50 +0000 UTCHello! Fellow Glaswegian like Lawrence Chaney here. So the term she says at the start of her interview is “och aye the noo”. It’s kind of a corny cliched Scottish saying. It’s pronounced like “ock eye the noo” and the literal translation is “oh yes, just now!” We don’t really use it as a phrase, it’s more like a parody. Like Southern US folk saying “yeehaw” or whatever... The closest equivalent I can think of would be to say “oh me, oh my!” (Also, a super common mistake is to pronounce Glasgow like “Glass-cow” when it’s more “Glaz-Go”) I’m sure Lawrence and Ellie will be hitting out with much more indecipherable Scottish slang over the course of the series so I’ll do my best to keep everyone up to speed 😂 Merry Christmas Bussy xx
