Weekly Update 8/1/24 - Commission Work

Hey there, I've taken time this week to catch up with a long overdue commission. I see horror stories of people losing contact with their artists and not getting what they paid for. I've had that happen to me, and I don't like the idea of being one of those kinds of artists. I'm just slow and overwhelmed 90% fo the time.

I also kind of needed a break from Toph Heavy. I was going a little crazy. If I can't get commissions, expect self-directed work that isn't related to Toph. 

This commission is about Lois Lane from My Adventures with Superman having a mishap with some special kryptonite that leaves her with some extra... assets, and only Clark knows what to do to get them back to normal.

It's a short thing. Only 4 pages. I've got all 4 drawn, and 3 inked. I plan for the coloring to be straightforward cel-shading.  I was hoping to have it completely done, and to surprise you with it. That's why there was no WIP updates this week. This should be done by next week. Expect WIP updates too. 

 Now, I want to focus more on drawing nice breasts rather than breasts that are simply gargantuan. I think whether you're a fan of asses or breasts, the thing that matters is the proportion of that feature to the torso. For the second page, I initially had her breasts much larger, but I shrank them down a bit to get an attractive proportion. 

Like for this page, in the first panel, I feel like they're way too big, and could stand to be shrunk a little. However, I may keep it the way that it is for the sake of a clear silhouette with a relatively small drawing. Everything is push and pull in art, and sometimes to make something clear you exaggerate. 

I'm also not sure about the proportions of the arms/hands on the third page, and I may adjust them if I find some good references.

 I've been putting a lot of effort into improving how I draw faces. To make them more in line with the 90s anime that I used to watch and love. I tried to apply those studies to these pages, but I'm not sure that the face reads as Lois from the show. I'm worried that it isn't on model enough.
