I need input on YCH
Added 2021-10-20 14:46:04 +0000 UTCSo I've been thinking about the YCH tier and I've decided that there are going to be two levels. Cameo and Guest Star. Cameo is a guy that's there for one or two panels. Guest Stars are multiple pages. The guest stars in part 3 are obviously the two soldiers who join in. Cameos will be a cheap YCH and a Guest Star will be expensive.
Here are my questions: Should these tiers be one lump sump that a patron pays once and then the tier is closed or should the tier be multi-month? What do you think is a fair price in either case?
I ask because I'm going to open the tier up once I finish the sketches, and then whenever it's claimed I'm going to go through the pages and redraw the character as necessary, and I'd like to plan around it.

While I personally would be fine with either payment option, I think a lump sum payment would allow the details to be hashed out earlier. It might also save some headache in case whoever does bankroll the Guest Star role can't be in constant contact throughout the entire illustration process. As far as prices go, I'd say base it around your commission prices for the lump sum. As for a multi-month model, the fee depends on how many months you'd need the client to actually be on that tier to maintain their position. If I had to give a number though, anywhere from $20-$30 a month seems fair to me, but that's a rough estimate and you'd probably need to adjust it. You know the production costs of this better than I do after all.
