For some reason, Top Cat got very special treatment in terms of translation when it was brought over to Mexico. They put it names that were...surpisingly topical and to this day its super popular down in Central America. The closest comparison is probably how in France Jerry Lewis is revered.

2022-04-02 19:26:26 +0000 UTCLast week I finished reading the Walt Disney biography by Bob Thomas so this episode was kismet; I learned in the book what "the laughing place" referred to originally, and listening to this I was anticipating the explanation like an MCU fan watching Spider-Man: No Way Home. P.S. in the Thomas book, there's mention of a childhood incident in which Walt was walking through the woods in Missouri near his family farm and, after he approached an owl out of curiosity and it attacked him, he killed the owl with his bare hands. So I wonder if that is a question in the Trivial Pursuit: Disney Edition from the 80s... "What type of bird did Walt slay out of self-defense when he was a child?"
