The reason the DrLupo thing is so bad is because his cheating was so blatant and cringe. No cheater, no matter how few scruples, would have the gall to make those moves if they knew anything about chess. I imagine it'd be like watching footage of someone using an insta-headshot bot or something in an FPS: a single pixel of a character's head appears on the other side of the screen, the crosshairs immediately snap to it, and he gets the kill over and over and over. That guy is going to get caught. If that wasn't bad enough, DrLupo was literally filming himself during the whole thing, constantly looking at his other monitor, making barely-cogent explanations as to what was going on, and visibly lying. It's really painful to watch. And given chess *isn't even his thing*, I actually feel really bad for the guy for doing something so astoundingly stupid. (My brother hazarded that he felt compelled to cheat because chess is popularly associated with intellectual ability -- i.e. that he was afraid of looking dumb. Well..)
