My great grandfather fought in the Plains Wars. Essentially, certain landowners didn't like cowboys driving their herds past or through their land. Claimed the cows ate too much grass. So they started putting up barbed wire and traps to stop the herds. Things got heated. You could see it from both sides, but this movie touches on that resentment.
