Band of Brothers " The Patrol"

Life sometimes imitates art. The guy playing Webster is called Ian Bailey (not Paul Rudd). He had a lot of time off filming since his character was wounded in the Carentan episode. He'd been on holiday to Italy while the rest of the cast had to be on set constantly there, even if they didn't have dialogue (they were needed in the background etc). He came back with a tan while the others were exhausted from being on set or ready to go for weeks. They weren't mad at him but the acting as if they were wasn't too hard apparently. 😆 (I heard Damien Lewis on a 10th anniversary podcast. The Ross Owen show)

Also, the difference between Wynn, Alley, Guarnere and all the other soldiers who skipped out on the hospital to rejoin the unit, and Webster is that when the 101st got deployed to Bastogne, it was very rushed (hence little ammo, and food, and improper clothing and equipment). Market Garden and other operations were planned offensives, whereas Bastogne was an impromptu defense. Chances are Webster couldn't have gotten out of the hospital, and to Easy before they were deployed and subsequently encircled by the Germans at Bastogne.

Good reaction Devin. The Lt. in the basement did take charge as best he could in the chaotic moment. He dragged back the private who was planning on shooting the POWs, and reprimanded him saying "We're not going to have to get more prisoners because you killed one!" He kept the mission objective secure, and assisted with the wounded man. I've seen this series more times than I can count, so I know almost everything that goes on, so I get frustrated when you miss things, but I have to remind myself that this is your first time through the series. Can't wait for the next two episodes

Hi Devin, Love the reviews. Band of Brothers and the Pacific are my two favorite shows so I love watching other peoples reactions to them and yours are by far the best. This episode in my mind really shows how great of a leader Major Winters really was. He knew that the second mission was a bad idea and that his men's minds weren't in it so he told them not to go and just report that it wasn't successful. Keep up the great work and I look forward to these next few episodes.
