EARLY ACCESS Fellowship of the ring PART1

Comments

They do namedrop important characters, places or events from the first, second and third age but almost always without the all important context for someone new to the world of tolkien (The movies show the end of the third age, which at this point has spanned 3000 years). The books are the only reliable way to get a grasp of the full history of middle earth. Yet the movies are fantastic as a starting point. And the hobbit movies while not as good as LotR are still 100% worth a watch.

yeah i can understand theres a lot of histroy there hahahah i feel like at the start of the movie it was a big vague so thank you for the explaination!! is it only addressed in the books or does it sort of go into more depth in the other movies? without spoilers of course

Yes, of course from the begining Sauron did not see himself as evil. He wanted control of the world to "heal" end the chaos and bring order as a sort of god king. But his hatred for the gods and his boundless ambition twisted these desires into a need for total domination and essentially the removal of free will. He took on a beautiful visage and called himself Annatar, Lord of Gifts to seduce the elves, guide them into his fold, and long story short that is how the rings were made. Its really hard to recap the second age without it taking 10 000s of words lol. So i dont think i can do it justice in a comment section. But only after his plan to manipulate and turn the good forces of the world to his side failed, did he turn to direct military conquest as his tool for world domination. So yes the main point of the one ring, the ruling ring is to dominate all others, including the wearers of the other 19 rings "One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." (Bind meaning to enslave in this context)

Christian Hoff

Ooook makes sense ! So he created all the rings with intent to control them? So he had an evil plan from the start then created the one ring to control all the others ?

I will try and answer some of your questions as a i watch the video, of course avoiding spoilers. Anyone can correct me if they think im wrong. Here goes... 1 can anyone forge a ring ? Yes anyone can forge a “ring” but these rings of power that were made by Sauron (9 for Men 7 for the dwarves and 3 for the Elves) are on a whole different power scale. They are artifacts of immense magical and godly power and no one that is alive in the era of the movies has the knowledge or power required to forge a ring as strong as the ones made by or under the tutelage of sauron. Most of the rings were made by master elven smiths guided by Sauron. His original plan to dominate the world was through the use of these rings, yet the elves were alerted to his plan and the dwarves proved to stubborn and greedy to be dominated by his will, only the youngest of the mortal races could be bent to his will through the use of the rings ( Humans). Sauron is essentially a fallen angel if one were to compare him to anything in real religion. His power is shown not only through fighting ( He does very little dirty work himself in most of the written material) instead he uses the power of deception and domination to achieve victory as this proves more efficient, and is less likely to alert the gods and mortals to his shenanigans. As such the rings are essentially artifacts of mythical power, and no mortal has the knowledge or power to copy his craft. 2 does the ring drive the wearer mad ? and 3 are some more susceptible to the influence of the ring ? Yes kind of, The ring grants immense power, for example to fade between the material and wraith world, to strike fear into the hearts of others and generally serves as a power amplifier in direct relation to ones innate power. However it was forged by Sauron and carries with it a large part of his being. As such all who wear the ring are over time broken down by the malice, evil and will to dominate that are such a large part of Saurons personality. Essentially the will of a god is constantly fighting you for control driving the individual closer towards bending their will to that of saurons. It also prays on the desires of the individual for example ambition, now this can be ambition to gain land, power or riches, or something much more kind such as helping people in (Gandalf) it matters not to the ring. That is why the hobbits seem less affected in a way as they are rather content as a people. 4 Where do i know (Saruman) him from ? Saruman (The white wizard) is played by christopher lee, a legendary actor who has played roles in some of the most famous movies of all time, Count Dooku in star wars, Francisco Scaramanga in The man with the golden gun (James Bond movie) , Dracula, Sherlock Holmes and Kato in Mio min Mio ( A movie based on a book by legendary swedish writer Astrid lindgren who wrote to name some examples Pippi Longstocking and Ronja, the Robber's Daughter). 5 How are orcs born ? Its kind of clear kind of not. The movies did obviously not want to show orc freak offs, but yes they reproduce just like humans. The original orcs were corrupted elves and later humans broken by torture and other horrors, also captured human women were likely forced to reproduce with orcs to create half breeds by Sauron, Morgoth ( The original evil lord and sauron's former master , Morgoth is defeated long before the movies) and Saurman. All of this has been changed multiple times by Tolkien during his writings and frankly i'm not entirely sure what is the exact current canon.
